How do you pronounce Darius?
Me : Da-ree-us
NOT : Da-rye-us
Colin Powell is even worse.

The only reason I know is because there was an author called Darius Just and he worked under a pseudonym because someone used to constantly play on it and call him... dry-as dust.
And English is hardly the language to quibble about pronunciation.
