You can burn a data cd with mp3 files on it, or you can decompress the mp3z and burn them to an audio cd.

    Hi. Thanks for replying.

This is the problem. I bought a DVD player that plays MP3s. So I burned a data cd full of mp3's but the DVD player doesn't recognize it. I presume that is because it is a CDROM. But to make an audio CD, as you mentioned, for me would defeat the purpose (to have a million songs on one CD).

What I am wondering is, if the DVD manufacturer boasts that the DVD player can play MP3, then does that mean there is a special format of cd that is MP3, such as the CDDA for a music cd?

    Thanks again.

I have a few hundred mp3 files on a cd and I play it through winamp or some other mp3 player. Maybe what they mean is you can store them as mp3 and can play the cd but you still need an mp3 player to play them. I can't remember how I created the disk..audio or data.....I just copied the contents fot the folder to the cd and then I select the folder as my destination when playing the mp3 player.

Well Maybe my knowledge in this field can help u out! I'm assuming you bought a home DVD player, right? If a home DVD player says that it can play mp3 files, then it probably can, the problem with this is, that not all cdr's are compatible with dvd players! Now i can't tell u what cdr to use, cause all dvd systems are different! I can tell u that i have had lots of luck with memorex!! There cheap and work in more dvd players! U can also use cdr-w's which are great but again u have to find a brand that works!! Now if u bought a DVD player for your puter, then mp3 files are certainly playable! U just need a mp3 player, such as winamp! I have about 9 cd's full of mp3's, and always play them with my puters dvd player! In fact u don't even need a dvd player in your puter to play mp3's, all u need is a cdrom drive, but i'm assuming u already know this!
    I hope i've been helpful!!

Well, this week I will try some more known cdr's.

(Last time i bought a stack of generics off a spool).

    thanks again.

Unhappy MP3's in a Home DVD player

If you have the MP3's in subdirectories, you may want to test a CD with the MP3's in the CD's root directory, that may help. Also, not sure if the DVD player can handle Joliet (long filenames) CD's or not, that could be another problem. AAG may have a point there also, CDR's could be an issue for your DVD player. I know when I burned a few VCD's that my friend's DVD player wouldn't play them.

    Question CD Audio

Dude, do you want to burn your MP3 to CD so you can listen on another CD Player? If so, then you will need to convert MP3 to CD Audio format (search CD Audio conversion on the net). MP3 wont be recognized by something such as a Sony Discman... Sorry if this isn't what you want, just wondering...

    Thanks guys.

REM, thanks, but as I mentioned it is a home DVD player which boasts the ability to play MP3 CD's.

Athlonman, it sounds like a good idea, but VCDs are also not in the root directory. Anyway, i'll try it. thanks

Also, if DVD has trouble with CDR's, what do the manufacturers use when they make VCD's and MP3's if they aren't CDRs?
