Question 2 operating systems, 1 PC - dual boot. Questions

I have decided to get windows 2000 pro. The problem is, I am not ready to give up my games, which means ME will have to stay also.

I have read articles on dual boot PCs and know it can be done, but I have a slightly different idea. Instead of using a single hard drive (partitioning it), I have another hard drive that I can use. I thought about putting windows 2K on the secound hard drive and keeping ME on the currant drive.

I figure 2 hard drives is basicly the same as one partitioned hard drive. I mean, each partition has its own letter and acts like its own drive, so is there a difference? Is there a problem with this that I have over looked? I do know that I will most likly have to create a disk to boot the drive/operating system I want, but that is okay.

Sorry XP fans, don't try and talk me out of XP instead ; I have my mind and heart set on Windows 2K did I just say that!? oh my...

Why would you need Win ME for games, they appear to run okay under Win2k as well?

    Currently have

Serious Sam and Empire Earth running with no problems....

Dual hard disk shouldn't be a problem. Load ME before Win2k however.... and let windows sort it out....

You know, I think you are right.... most of the games I use a PC to play should run under W2K, although I have to look to make sure.

I am not a hard core computer gamer. I guess when I get things put together, I can always install and attempt to play games on W2K to see what happens before I decide to lose ME If all goes well, perhaps Red Hat Linux could replace ME

U should not have any problems with that, just make sure that the win2k setup program can correctly detect your harddisk.

On some occasions where you se SCSI, you will need to provide a harddisk driver on setup.

Win 2k does have some problems with some games, mainly old DOS games are a bit dodgy (War2 original, doesnt work on my Win2k box, but it does on my grandmother's (no joke =), and Dungeon Keeper 2 doesnt work on my box either, as well as a few others). Generally, recent games will run without problems, though some may give you problems.
