note that only applies to Win XP. NTFS under 2000 obviously is not affected, so........

Good Ol' Platypus
Well you see you have XP, so all problems are now directly applicable to you and your computer...
Tried Windows 2000? You won't regret it...!

Win2k slowed my pc down enormously, so I turned back to Win98. And NTFS on Win2k is a bit slower to, I experienced.

It may be slightly slower, but it sure has its advantages

NTFS is faster for large disk drives (like over a few gigs) because of the way it handles clusters. Also, small files are actually stored in the indexing system which makes access to them much faster.

And also, it verifies the data when its written - i.e. if you're halfway writing a file and your computer crashes, it is just a truncated version of the file rather than most of your file and a few bytes of junk, which is what you get with FAT32.
Trust me, I tried (BSOD when downloading a film).

Win2k is the best ever version of windows....
Win 3.x good beta really
95 sucked, and crashed consistently
98 had no problems but a bit retarded.
98SE ... why l paid for that l have no idea
WinME ... run screaming into the night
NT 4.0 ... total buggy crap os
Win XP ..... you should be ashamed Mr Gates....
Probably a few more versions floating as well, but we have settled in on Win2k in the office for servers and desktops. Except for the unix and linux boxes of course ... and don't get me started on linux.....

Windows ME isn't bad at all! Not when you format every other day. Also, to avoid crashes, all you have to do is follow the one minute rule:
Don't do anything with the computer for a minute after you open or close an application. This includes using the application, open/closing an application, or clicking the start menu.
Also, it's cool how it randomly starts processing what's in your removable drives. Just to make sure the data's still there, even though you're not using it, you know. But remember, when it starts doing this, leave the computer alone for a minute after it's done.
See. ME isn't that bad!

when i format (sometime in the next few weeks, my computer is really getting congested, plus i am looking for a change of scenary) i will be installing 2k pro. For a try, currently i have it running with VPC and it seems ok, a little sluggish but that is because of VPC
