My husband's diabetic too but he "cheats" occassionally too. Pays dearly for it but he's a grown man and it's his choice.

Not lately...well, not since he had the heart attack. He's been very good (read: scared) since then.

His stupid insurance only pays for syringes etc. But they'll come round eventually I'm hoping.
I think it's true about a women's strength though. When Tom had his heart attack. I handled it all very calmly until it was all over and then I broke down and cried after I left the hospital. Weird! The same when Erin broke her arm. Tom was beside himself and I just did what needed to be done.

Ouch, and Insulin (US$50?) and blood test strips (US$50) ain't cheap....I've recently hasd to pay for insulin and strips, cos I go to a private GP now, and all prescriptions cost...
You're right about remaining calm. Eiks always stays calm, even when I got caught at customs with hash last fortnight....

Good night Ian!!!!!!!!
Gaffer, Tom's insurance pays all but $9 of his strips and insulin etc. If we got the pump they wouldn't pay for any of it.

It's prbably not worth the pump anyway - I spoke to a colleague (a VERY keen diabetic) and she tried it. Apparently it's really impractical, you can't have the pipe out for more than 30 mins, and it VERY painful to insert the pipe...
...better control, but at what price....

It's really painful for me to watch Tom in pain. It's just not fair why some people have to go through that and other rat bastards skate through life without a hitch.

I know, but if he's anything like me, it'd hurt him more to know you were hurt, than the pain itself...
Personally, I hate my mood changes when I'm hypo....I can really snap at people, and it's not attractive..

Before Tom found out he was diabetic, he woke up one morning and our dog had peed on the carpet in the dining room. He was so incredibly pissed off and out of control, he ripped up the carpet and took it out to the trash before I had even gotten out of bed. He found out later that day when he started to lapse into a coma that it wasn't the dog that upset him, his brain was frying in sugar!
The upside was I got a new wood floor!

heh! I used to get into a lot of trouble up until my mid 20s, usually with the law or big blokes, and almost always due to my temper-management inabilities whilst suffering hypoglycaiemia...
