Why not just hit the Print Screen button?

You don't need MS Paint. And if you are only taking one picture then I fail to see how speed and efficiency is a problem?

Correct. And also if you want, use MS PowerPoint. Just past there your image(Screen Shot) and save as a image. Then edit it as you wish.

If you have access to an actual video file (like an .AVI or .MPG or whatever), you can use VirtualDub or VirtualDubMod to extract as many images as you like.

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!
I doubt you deleted ms paint. You may have deleted the icon, but it is hard to get rid of paint. Click start, then hit the run button. Type mspaint hit OK. If paint doesn't show up, then you can easily just install it back.

You can also use the default Windows Movie Maker. You can capture a frame there.

mspaint.exe is actually a compiled shortcut for pbrush.exe on most systems.
If the video is an overlay, the print-screen method won't work. All you will get is a picture of the transparency color.

Is that why the Print Screen key is missing from some kind of keyboards. I wonder why?

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!
i doubt it. What keyboards are missing it? Laptops? i've never seen a keyboard without one. But i seriously doubt a hardware vendor would leave it off to prevent you from using a built-in windows feature especially when you could get around not having it about 2 dozen different ways.

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!
I found a laptop which missing the Print Screen key. I haven't remember the exact model, but it is a Sony one. That is around couple of years back. That laptop user ask me to take a screen shot, I'm in a real trouble for few minutes because there is no Print Screen key. What I have done is, take his file(ppt file) to my machine and take the screen shot.

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!
i figured it would be a laptop since they don't have 102+ key keyboards. There was probably a fn+keypress combination that did the same thing (like the way you emulate the numeric keypad)

As far as I remember there is no 102 keys, but not sure. Unfortunately I don't have that laptop to check that out. If I found it later it is nice.

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!

Then paste it to photoshop.
Or you can dump every single frame in a folder by doing File -> Save Image Sequence

i wouldn't think you would need a codec to play a flash video.

Ya, it's true. But what I want to find that VirtualDUB required any codec, to test that it is far better than the flash. I check it on the VirtualDUB site and unable to find any solution.

If you have a certain video file that you can't play, you can use gspot to find out what codec is needed to decode the video and audio streams.

Wow that's great . You can also use VLC to save online video/audio streams to disk or to create streams yourself. View/record/stream your own webcam.
It is quite a piece of extraordinary software indeed.

Re: Need Picture of Video PLEASE!!
OK, I recommended to use VirtualDub if the OP has access to the original movie. Because you'll have the ability to nitpick the perfect frame.
If the flash movie is good enough in terms of quality, USE PRINT SCREEN whilst playing it.
