VS 2005 + Vista 'The Application Cannot Start'
hi,
i do not know if this is the correct place to place this thread. however i'm really in need of help.
when i start up my visual studio 2005, i get the following error mesage:
'Application Cannot Start'. clicking ok would inevitably close the whole program.
i have tried accessing microsoft's support webpage but to no avil. i have installed both service packs as adviced by the microsoft after the installation. has anyone faced this problem before? i did not have this problem while using winxp in the past. please help.
regards

Re: VS 2005 + Vista 'The Application Cannot Start'
You installed SP-1 for VS 2005 and also SP-1 Update for Vista too?
Vista update:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en
Was this an upgrade to Vista and are you running VS 2005 Express or one of the Pro versions?
Does it crash on starting up VS for a new project or just a particular one?

Re: VS 2005 + Vista 'The Application Cannot Start'
yes i installed both updates. if i'm not mistaken the system will prompt me to install the updates if i havent. no the system doesnt really crash, it will prompt the above error message then exits when i click ok. it didnt even gave me any indication whatsoever on what's going wrong.

Re: VS 2005 + Vista 'The Application Cannot Start'
I have found most of the many problems of Vista seem to be to do with screwed up user settings following installs. Trying again as another user is always worthwhile.

Re: VS 2005 + Vista 'The Application Cannot Start'
But does this happen on the opening of a solution or project vs. a blank new project?

When all else fails, perhaps uninstalling and re-installing will do better.
