Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
Good point, i've noticed it's lacking that feature too, however, i do believe this was only implemented in newer versions of vBulletin.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
If I remember it correctly it was giving us some problems. Think we removed it:

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
It can be present as an options , so everybody may try it , if problems occurred you can switch back to anyone of the other 2 editor.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
I don't think it was removed. But the WYSIWYG editor in vB 3.5+ is much better than the one in 3.0.x which is what we run now.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
If newer versions of vBulletin have a better editor, then we will get it when we upgrade the forums.
When will we upgrade?
I don't know. We maintain around 30 separate forums, so we are a bit slower to upgrade since it is a big effort to upgrade them all cleanly. When I know, I'll let you know
Brad!

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
What about changing the board to another one , IPB is better (my personal opinion) , I know this will be tough but possible , and I guess that the invision PB company made convertors to convert vBulletin databases to IPB databases , also this can be applied as a test with a poll to vote for the best one.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
Why would anyone spend time and money downgrading software?

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
IPB isn't nearly as good, let alone better. It's far less secure, with nowhere near the sophistication of vbulletin.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
And AFAIK, VBF was one of the forum for which vBulletin was designed and developed. If so, you just cannot expect them to leave it.

IPB v.2.1.5 & up are amazing and secure , ppl call it the unF******* board (sorry for that slang but that what ppl say) , I know forums with the last vBulletin versions & it have less options than IPB even its previous versions.

If so I have to forget about my suggestion of IPB but we still need a better editor or a whole upgrade as brad said.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
BTW : IPB is at least faster 3X than vBulletin & better look.
BTW2 : I am not here to advertise for them (they even don't need this) , I was just suggesting .

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
You may think that IPB is better, but we cannot change the forum software just because one member would prefer something else.
I'm afraid that due to the large number of different forums that JPnyc manages (which between them have a staggering amount of members), I would have to take his opinion of the security and sophistication above yours.
From my brief views of IPB, I have to say that I would much rather use vBulletin (which was indeed created for VBF, by James & John who ran VBF at the time - but that is not a valid reason on its own for us staying with it).
By the way, if you want to see what your post will look like before posting, simply press the "Preview" button instead of "submit" (or in the box below, "go advanced" instead of "post quick reply").

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
Mate, I admin an IPB forum. It is one hella flaky piece of software. Less intuitive to use, and less features than vB. I'm sorry about your opinion but that's just the way it is.

Re: Suggestion , WYSIWYG editor
IPB has shown itself to be the most vulnerable forum software currently around. The only forum I currently visit that uses it was hacked and many visitors picked up a trojan from the board. Anyway, the upgrade is coming to the later version of vbulletin, and IPB will never be adopted for any of our forums.
