Re: Forum errors have returned
Looks like some sort of mass traffic attack. All of the forums and subforums reportedly have hundreds or even 1000+ active users. There is never anywhere close to that much traffic, especially in the fringe categories of XAML, Mobile Development, etc.

Re: Forum errors have returned

Five random samples out of eleven sites.
There are currently 4,964 users online. 1 members and 4963 guests
There are currently 4,524 users online. 1 members and 4523 guests
There are currently 25,632 users online. 2 members and 25630 guests
There are currently 56,186 users online. 14 members and 56172 guests -(VBForums)
There are currently 932 users online. 1 members and 931 guests -(VDR)
The F5 key helps....sometimes.

Better start blocking addresses mainly from China.

Thought maybe I had been banned. Then it dawned on me that I can't get on the site how do I find out whats going on. I found the site FB page but not much activity there.

Definitely looks like bots and/or AI-Clients
Just took a look, what those "guests" were viewing, and there were a lot of old threads, even some 22 years old
which a user "aliciasmith" replied today
see here: https://www.vbforums.com/showthread....55#post5668055
That post looks like something an AI would spout

Re: Forum errors have returned
Several years ago there was a DoS sample program posted (code for doing a DoS Attack) on another site that had VBForums as the default site. I wonder if that code has made a comeback somewhere.....

Block China and India addresses first.
Then report.

That's not what you'd get from a ban. Unless things have changed, you'd get a page that told you that you had been banned, and usually has some reason.

Looking back on it now, the IT guy(s) probably took the sites offline for a bit.
Don't know bout you guys, I don't appreciate fast interest enough....until it's gone.

Re: Forum errors have returned
I did a count a few minutes ago when the number of visitors was 8106. From this number, exactly 4601 users are spread throughtout the forums on VBForums. The rest, 3505, are just staring at the homepage.
