Compile/run your recent changes in VB6 alone, ensure it all works. Then migrate to TwinBasic and try it there.

BTW, when you open a VBP project in twinBASIC, you'll be prompted with a dialog allowing you to set a few initial project options. One of them is 'Option Explicit', which defaults to ON for the whole project in twinBASIC, but you can turn it off easily at that point.

Ah yes. Thank you. Going forward I think I will leave it ticked now that everything is declared.

The app is running but there is an issue with a tooltip class. The reason for this is that it allows a multi-line tooltip showing the address of the Customer whose name is in a combobox. It works when the form is first loaded but subsequent loads give a "Object variable not set" when referring to it.

(let me know if I should be posting this in a different thread)

@AdorablePlum, this is not about installing VB6 on W11 anymore. I would create a new thread, in the correct forum (VB6 or TwinBasic) and explain in detail what you do, what you expect and what you get.

this seems a good installer, I used it
easy and quick to follow instructions, you need the VB6 cd iso, it generates the new installer with the Inno Setup scripts

Thank you I will take a look later. web.archive is a blocked domain at work.
The installation files are on a stick rather than a CD.

In anycase, after repeatedly getting an "Error registering component" error and all the Addins missing, I now have an unlocked machine to try on, which is good and only took 2.5 months.

Ok so that seemed to go well. All the Addins are there and everything seems to work.
I think my installation comes with SP6 already, but I'm not sure how to check.

I can't remember what custom options I used for the W10 installation, but there does seem to be a difference in the About, namely that in the W11 install the Forms3 isn't mentioned.

Does anyone know the significance of this, please?

It should say "Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 (SP6)" at the top so you don't have SP6 installed.

Thank you. That's now installed although I think I've been using it without SP6 for quite a while.

Any idea about the missing Forms3?

    I don't have Forms3 here at version 9782 (i.e. SP6) so probably not a big deal.

Forms subsystem is working fine incl. the Form Designer in IDE.

    cheers,

Thank you Yes I feel vindicated, although the PC will need to be enrolled, so the effect of that remains to be seen.

Yes, well... we did state that would be the environment you would be working in, in the end. It was inevitable.

VB6 now and TwinBasic as a future upgrade path.

    Yes, I'm enjoying exploring TwinBasic.
I'll leave this thread open a little longer to report back on what happens when this PC is enrolled.
