18000 Free High Quality 2D/3D Assets for Your Game, expiring Dec 31, 2024
Epic Games acquired Quixel Megascans, and made it free for Unreal Engine, but what you may not know is that they changed their minds. They are free until the end of 2024 only. They acquired several products and each has its own market place. They wanted to make one market place instead. They called that Fab.com, and with it they changed the free offer to include the use for any tool, not just Unreal Engine, but only if you claim them by Dec 31, so about 8 days left. After that, they are $1 each, so you would be saving $18000. There is no catch. You can claim the entire collection by 2 clicks only as explained below. You don't have to download them now, just claim them now, and then you can download them whenever you want. You can use them with any graphics or animation program(Adobe, Blender, Unreal Engine, Goddit, Roblox, Unity, etc.).
What can you do with them?
- Make video games.
- You can easily drag and drop them into a scene, and it would look photo real. You could make such a scene in few minutes. You can take 2D picture of that scene and use at as a background for green screen, etc. Green screen kits from Amazon start at around $40.
- Make short or long films.
- Make music videos for yourself, your friends, or favorite rising star.
- Make augmented reality videos, similar to Pokimon Go.
How to claim them(Please see the first video below showing the process):
1 - Create an account with Epic Games. Go to https://www.unrealengine.com/ and create an account. It may ask you to download Epic Games Launcher, which is a small download, but I don't think you need it. You don't have to download Unreal Engine to claim them, but you can, it's a large download though(14 GB). When picking which license, choose the free option.
2 - Go to https://www.fab.com/ and on the top right, click on a "person" icon to log in, use your Epic Games account.
3 - Scroll down just one screen until you see "Get all Quixel Megascans for free!". Click on "Claim now", then this would show "Megascans claimed". Now you have claimed all 18,000 assets, but there is one more.
4 - Go to https://quixel.com/megascans/home/ and on the top right, click on a "person" icon to log in, use your Epic Games account. Note if you go to the home page by mistake, it tells you to go to Fab website. Please don't. Either use the link or click Megascans on top to claim the legacy version of the same assets(they work better with other tools, other than Unreal Engine).
5 - You will see "Get all Legacy Megascans for free". Click on "Claim now", then this would show "Megascans claimed".
You are done. Now you have them forever. The reason you need to claim twice is that the first integrates better with Unreal Engine, while the "legacy" integrates better with other tools. It's the same collection, but offered in two different file formats or plugins. It's better to cover your bases. You have until Dec 31, 2024 to do this, you can download them later in 2025.

Mods: Should I multipost this to C#/C++/VB6 forums as well? Not many would see this post.
