If you honestly think a person can accidentally do two nazi salutes, not a gesture similar to a Nazi salute but an actual nazi salute then you are probably willing to forgive him anything he does.

Oh, I see. You were saying PD accused him of being a Nazi. I mean, he didn't... and anyone can read back in the thread to verify that.
Between the two of you you're doing a dandy job of showing just how inconsistent, ill informed and generally hypocritical the cult of Trump and Musk currently is.
I'll say again what I've said many times before. There are good reasons to praise Musk's achievements. There are good reasons to support Trump. I don't adhere to either of those arguments but I recognise and acknowledge them. That's politics. But when you're presented with Nazi salutes and advocation for ethnic cleansing and find yourself unable to criticise it, I'm pretty sure that means you're in a cult... or worse.

Yes but we are not talking about me right now. Don't try to slide your way out. Niya thinks it was accidental, what do you say to him? Do you have any name calling? Any remarks? If not it's 9:53 I'm packing in 5 minutes and I'm waiting for you to comment on Niya obscure belief. Will you comment or can I go?

1. Niya hasn't said that as far as I'm aware. He's simply avoided responding to it.
2. If he did say that I'd say he was acting as an apologist for Neo Nazism.

Somewhere along the line these differences became dogmatic and tolerance for these differences dwindled drastically. We are no longer willing to listen to each other and this is a very sad state of affairs and I don't know what the solution is. So I guess each side will have to duel it out until one or the other wins. History will decide which of us is right.
That's a good point. I feel that way, too. I have some theories as to why it is, and you might say it all comes down to social media, but perhaps not in the typical way.
We've always had differences between one another. Even if we generally agreed, we disagreed on some points, or to some degree on points that we mostly agree on. We always had ways to paper over that. We do it through talking in person, which involves a whole lot of non-verbal communication. The disagreements were still there, we just worked around them.
I don't think that happens on social media. It's not just that the non-verbal communication isn't possible, it also that it isn't necessary. Who is your audience? One person? A crowd? Supporters? Opponents? Almost regardless of which of those you choose (you can choose more than one), aside from talking to just one person, then there is no need or value in papering over anything. Heck, it isn't even necessary to be particularly precise about what you are saying. It's too easy to say something that is, 'close enough' to what you actually mean, and just post it.
That makes social media more likely to divide. The societal glue (or perhaps grease, since it reduces friction) of communication is stripped away by social media. We speak both poorly and hastily.

It's interesting that any non-American would support an hardcore "America First" at all costs administration, or that a gay, black atheist would support an administration that will likely do more to advance the Project 2025 vision of the future than any other, or that a non-mega-millionaire/billionaire would support an administration that will likely do more to advance the ideas behind Yarvin's Butterfly Revolution than any other, but here we are.
I'm not sure what's in it for you guys long term, but IMO you have one foot firmly in "Leopard's ate my face" territory. Only time will tell though, but it's hard to imagine that those of you in the supportive out-groups will fare much better than those in the currently non-supportive out-groups once you've inevitably outlived your usefulness to the forces behind the "new, new world order" should they be successful.

It's petty, childish, and stupid and to engage in such a debate would lend it legitimacy. This to me is no different than these stupid debates liberals like to have about whether the word "fireman" is misogynistic because it contains the word "man" in it. This is so utterly stupid and childish to me that the only response I can ever muster in a conversation like this is to mock it.
I mean if I sat down across from a person that wants to convince me to stop using the word "fireman", I would most likely be just laughing my ass off the whole time. I can't take that stuff seriously. I once read an article by a liberal that was worried about his son because he like to play with trucks. He invented these wild fantasies about his son growing up to be a toxically masculine rapist or some such thing. I mean these aren't serious people. These are the kinds of absurdities they like to spend their time on and I can't be bothered with it. This doesn't even register with me. It's just empty noise to me. Sorry to say.
Do I think it was a Nazi salute or it was accidental? My answer is no answer. I simply refuse to even engage in this debate.

Liberals don't actually have discussions like that. I've been a liberal for over fifty years and have been around liberals for all of that time. The best I can say is that either this is something a few say to tweak fragile conservatives, or it's a case of conservatives coming up with the fight they want to have rather than the one they actually have.

The radical leftists are the ones having these types of frivolous rage-bait discussions. You may not be one of them but they are your thought leaders despite being a tiny minority of the liberal demographic. You're all part of the same cabal.

In its simplest form I think it is the sense of anonymity. And, as mentioned, feeling empowered to say things you wouldn't say to their face. I've posted responses here that if I was sitting across the table from the poster I would not have said. I've been trying to watch that. I've even made that mistake early in my career as an professional in emails, forgetting my audience are people too. A good rule of thumb might be "would I say that if the person was sitting across from me".

But the question isn't so much why the "left" is so incestually entwined with the Deep State, but why people have been so asleep at the wheel that they permitted it to be established. We've had warnings shouted from high podiums, from Eisenhower to Carter to Perot. We've even had warnings in popular culture, dating back at least to the 1968 DNC Convention:

Was talking to a friend of mine that's a big Trump supporter. He was complaining about rising gas prices and I said yeah, I'm starting to worry that Trump might not have been telling the truth about bring gas and egg prices down on Day One. He said it was our governors fault.
But I ended up checking out the gas price situation and found something I hadn't heard of. Here in CA we have two different blends of gasoline. A winter blend and a summer blend (that produces less smog). Between that and taxes we pay over a $1.5 gallon more that the national average.

Re: Post election prediction
I believe those two blends are nationwide, not just in CA. That's part of the reason why the price of gas always rises heading towards Memorial Day. It's too far out for that to be the cause of the recent rises, but these rises have been too small to need a reason. Gas prices change. It happens. Trump never had a chance on that one. Oil production can't overcome lack of refinery capacity. Increasing refinery capacity isn't quick and it isn't cheap, so refinery operators only build new refinery infrastructure if they believe that there will be a long-term return on the investment. There's no evidence that they think that's a good investment at the moment, so drilling for oil gains nothing domestically.
Also, drilling in the US generally requires a price that ranges from 60-70 dollars/barrel. The price is around that, now, but only somewhat above that. Increased production decreases price. In the wild west days of the fracking boom, everybody was jumping in, so the price of oil dropped so far it sometimes even went negative (producers had to pay people to store it). That drove lots of companies out of business and drove the consolidation of others. Now, the remaining companies are more circumspect about drilling. Not too much, not too little.

I believe they said that it takes a while to change over from one blend to another. A couple of local refineries were down for the change and maintenance and there was a fire at another so our prices have been up more than usual.
Whether that's all true, I have no idea.

Probably most of them will, depends on if there is a youtube video of the lie or not...
Good to see how Ukraine is at fault for the war, obviously Putin is the victim here. He is lying about President Zelensky's approval ratings, ranting about no Ukrainian elections when the country is at war - but not having any issues with Russia's lack of fair elections.
Good to see that under the new Presidency that Russia is now your friend (whatever happened to communism being bad?) but Europe (in general), Panama, Canada, Denmark, Greenland, Germany (seemingly specifically), and Ukraine are now the enemy.
