[RESOLVED] Limits of VB 2017 Community
Have I exceeded some limit in VB 2017 Community?
I have been developing a VB program for years. While in the IDE, I now find that "Find" doesn't find all incidents of a search term. Also, after finding a subset of the incidents the “Find” box disappears. If I revert back to a previous version of my program, the same thing happens.
If I uninstall VB 2017 Community and then reinstall it, everything works as expected on the old version of my program. But, once I load the latest program version, the problem comes back. Reverting to the old version doesn’t fix it until I reinstall VB 2017 Community again.
The latest version of my program seems to run OK, but can I trust it even though it changes the way the IDE works?

Is there reason your not just upgrading to VS 2022. Even though I've never heard of a problem like yours before, why not see if that will solve your problem. Seems like an easy way to see if it's a problem with your VS 2017. You can have both versions on the same machine.

Re: Limits of VB 2017 Community
I have both VB 2017 and VB 2022 on my machine. When I loaded my program in VB 2022 I got a mess of errors. It looked like it would take a long long time to fix all the errors.

Re: Limits of VB 2017 Community
Any project developed in VS 2017 should have no issues in VS 2022. Maybe whatever is causing the issue with your IDE is related to those errors. It sounds like there's something amiss in your project that is causing the IDE to freak out. This is one reason that everyone should use source control. In situations like this, you revert to a last known good state and your good to go. I'd be interested to see examples of these errors in VS 2022.
BTW, I've also never heard of or experienced an issue like this.

Re: Limits of VB 2017 Community
Well things have changed. I loaded my program into VB 2022 Comunity to get some errors and there were none. It loaded and ran with no errors. I don't recall if I reinstalled VB 2022 or not. but I now have VB 2022 Comunity version 17.10.3 and VB 2017 Comunity version 15.9.64.
I don't understand what happened but since everythng works in VB 2022 Comunity version 17.10.3 I will use it.
Thank you for your help.
