How to get 'Permission'.
Hi,
I need to remove some files from my WindowsApps folder (Windows 10) when I try; I'm told I don't have permission, which I need from 'SYSTEM'.
I am the administrater for this laptop. Trying the advice given from Google, selecting 'Settings > Accounts > Family & other users', I'm told "We couldn't connect to Microsoft family right now, so your family on this device might not be up to date."
I don't understand why I can't get premission to delete files when I'm the administrater.
I can't even find how to update 'my family' (Which is just myself anyway).

Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

Thanks Steve,
Sadly that doesn't help. The advice there is:
To take ownership in Windows 10 and 11, log in with an administrative account, right-click the file or folder, go to Properties > Security > Advanced, and change the owner to your user account.
When I right ckick that folder the only tabs are:
General, Sharing, Previous Versions and Customize
'Security' is in none of the tabs, the only Advanced button is in the 'General tab' under the heading of Attributes, clicking that, I get tickboxes for:
Folder is ready for archiving.
Allow files in this folder to have contents indexed in addition to file properties.
Compress contents to save disc space, and
Encrypt contents to secure data.
None of the other tabs have Advanced button.

Thanks 2kaud,
Sadly that too expects there to be a 'Security' tab, I don't get one despite the screen shot showing it. At least I know where to look now... And it's definitely not there.

Re: How to get 'Permission'.
What is the exact name/location of the folder in question... My pc doesn't have a C:\WindowsApps folder.
Or even better... GOOGLE-> windows 10 security tab missing from folder properties
And see all of the articles.

My pc doesn't have a C:\WindowsApps folder.
It's c:\Program Files\WindowsApps

You have to enable 'Show hidden files' to be able to find C:\Program Files\WindowsApps.

Re: How to get 'Permission'.
2kaud is telling you to restore the security tab.
Have you tried?
Also if you don't have access to the folder , you don't know what's in the folder what files are you expecting to remove from an unknown folder?
