Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

vb6 pk " other vb" is 412÷271,432=0.15%(Number of published articles compared.)

There are very few other articles related to VB, so I don't think it should be transferred out.

If there is a need for such an article. Isn't it convenient that a theme is automatically assigned to two different sections?
For example, when I open the Vb6 section, I can see some articles of twinbasic. It is also automatically categorized into the twinbasic family.
For the database of the website, the hard disk space has not increased at all.
Sometimes we can also recommend tools for developing Android apps with CB, as well as IDE tools for developing Apple iOS.
A VB-related IDE for use on Linux systems

The second suggestion is whether you can add a mobile page or mobile app to quickly view and publish articles.

The third section can add some reward activities for excellent code.

The fourth is to put some open source VB6, VB. Net, VBA related open source projects, collect the URL together, and recommend it on the home page and each page.

If you have some good development tools or ids, you can also make a link page to recommend.

The picture will be compressed when it is sent, and it is very blurred. This problem can also be upgraded.

In fact, the best thing is to build a github project and make a plug-in in VB6.If you have any questions, send them directly to this forum.Open VB6 every day to see how many people reply.

You can search quickly when you have a problem. Give him some correct code to take the initiative and push forward.
The knowledge of the future does not depend on our search every time, but on showing us the right answer at one time.

You can add a link to the chatgai search in the forum.
The number of articles published by other abb is only 1 ‰.
Just like in China, most people only live within 100 kilometers.
Therefore, it is enough to buy a new energy vehicle of 300 to 500 kilometers.
If you travel to a place 1000 kilometers away every 10 years.
Is it necessary for us to buy a new energy vehicle of 2000 kilometers? I never use it at ordinary times, but I use it once after 10 years.
Then I think it's a complete waste. It's better to spend money to rent a car when you need it, or borrow a friend's car to drive occasionally.
New energy vehicles are used to drive 2000 kilometers a month. Most Chinese people can't use so much mileage at all.The average cost of gas is only $30 a month. If you spend $300000 in rent, just for a trip in 5 to 10 years.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

If you open the home page of the forum, you will automatically modify the static page every day. ASPX, PHP background, automatically generate the data of the home page, which column channel section has the largest number of visitors in the front.

Now VBA and VSTO are placed at the bottom, which is hard to find.

The other basic sections are on page 5, and no one can open them at ordinary times. It's hard to find it with the mouse all the way down.

The way to upload the attachment is too complicated to open on the mobile phone. It would also be much more convenient if we could put the upload picture button together with the last click to confirm.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

GAMBAS is a free development environment and a full powerful object-oriented
language and development platform based on a Basic interpreter with optional
just-in-time compilation, as easy as Visual Basic™ was.

    2012-5-24
Gambas 3 has now a Just In Time compiler!
This JIT compiler has been made by Emil Lenngren. It is based on LLVM 3.1.
Add the FAST keyword on the top of a class, and all methods of that class are dynamically compiled and magically become faster.
For example, the GameOfLife example becomes globally twice faster, the generation computation four times faster.
Gains are mainly expected in low-level computation and control flow, programs becoming up to about 100 times faster. Note that there are some limitations yet.
Read this document for more details.
*Beware: LLVM 3.1 must be compiled by hand on most distributions, and the very last development version of Gambas must be used.

    update history from 2011
    https://gambaswiki.org/wiki/doc/oldnews?nh

Judging from this record, the author has been developing this work for at least 15 years.
If it can persist in development for such a long time, it must be safe and not harmful.
The last update was at the end of May 2024.
It’s free software that doesn’t require money to purchase. Even if we don’t recommend it, you can still check it out.
The biggest loss is that after such a good work is developed, almost no one uses it.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

Our forum's main income may be advertising fees.
If vb6, vba, vb.net were completely abandoned by Microsoft, the average age of users would be 50-60.
When we are all too old to walk, maybe users will be gone too. No more advertising fees
So what we can do is to try our best to make twinbasic, cross-platform development tools, LINUX development tools, IDEs that can be programmed directly on mobile phones and web pages also use VB6 syntax. Maybe it will be completely defeated by JAVASCRIPT and PYTHON, but for these VB6 successor companies and individuals who have been working hard, as long as it is free, we should support it unconditionally. If it is paid, we should also give some support.
EXCEL VBA and VB.NET have always been paid, not free, and not open source products.
Our forum has never asked Microsoft to pay millions of dollars in advertising fees every year, right?
The good thing is that as long as we have more and more users, the number of people visiting your forum can continue to help you earn more advertising fees. This is the biggest victory.
If the profits of TWINBASIC and FreeBasic IDE are large enough, they may take the initiative to pay the annual advertising fee. The main reason is that there are fewer and fewer users of VB6 and they are really about to disappear.
Individuals or small companies who plan to imitate VB6 and develop VB7 or VB8 are mainly interested in VB syntax, and it is actually difficult to make a lot of money from it.
In this industry, the only winners are BA4 FOR ANDROID and B4I FOR ios. They obtained venture capital. With enough development funds and profits, they made B4A free for everyone to use.
But how many of us can use VB syntax to develop mobile APPs and develop applications and software tools on LINUX?

At present, the new paid VB development IDE tools are twinbasic and radbasic. B4I is a tool for developing Apple IOS. No one in our forum has ever discussed it. B4A, which develops Android apps, is basically not used by us users.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

He refused to use Msgbox("info"), but had to use syntax like
    Code:
    messagebox.warning("abc")
, which is destined to be disliked by VB6 users, but if developed under LINUX, it is free and does not cost money. Too few VB IDEs purchased

gambas say:This project aims at making a graphical development environment based on a Basic interpreter, so that we have a language as easy as Visual Basic™ under Linux™.
The phenomenal quantity of bugs and inconsistencies that makes Visual Basic so delightful persuaded me to start this project ;-)
It seems that Microsoft was aware of the poor quality of its language, as VB .Net is not backward compatible with older versions of Visual Basic.
I want to clear up any misunderstanding immediately. Gambas does not try to be compatible with Visual Basic, and will never be. I'm convinced that its syntax and internals are far better than the one's of its proprietary cousin!
I took from Visual Basic what I found useful : the Basic language, the development environment, and the easiness to quickly make programs with user interfaces. That's all. I could have chosen the syntax of almost any other language, but I was fed with Basic from childhood, so...
I dislike the bad level of common Visual Basic programmers, often due to bad practices imposed by the bugs and strangeness of this language. So I will try to make Gambas as coherent, logical and reliable as possible, and I hope that Gambas programmers will make some effort in return! :-)
I hope other people will join me to help to increase the possibilities of the language. There is a lot to do and polish yet!

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

I think some articles should belong to two sections, and it may be almost useless to move them directly to other sections.
If you just put it in the suggestion feedback, the average VB lover will not see it.

Sometimes some ideas or suggestions are hoped to be able to be seen by webmasters and fans of every forum.
For example, some good development tools, or new start-ups, if he can actively recommend them to us, we can learn more.

xiaoyao FIND A BETTER TRANSLATOR. WE DON'T UNDERSTAND YOU.

And long manifests about incompatible, different languages like gambas or FreeBasic or B4A belong in the Other Basic forum, not here. tB there's some overlap because *it's compatible* and most code works in both, but those others aren't and aren't part of VB6.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

If any development language tool related to VB syntax is recommended or found by someone, it will be transferred or deleted directly, then how can we know it?
And I have counted this proportion at the earliest time, and only one article out of 1000 is about something else.Assuming that a page is 20, if we publish 20 articles every day. There is only one such article in two months, and I don't think this number is a problem at all.
On the contrary, I think it's like twinbasic if he has a major update every day. He sends a theme every day, and I don't think it's a problem, or he keeps updating in a page.
B4a, I feel that he is just like VB6 grammar.
On the contrary, Microsoft's VB. Net has changed so much that most people don't like it.

Re: Improvements to the VB6, VB. Net forum

People who are interested in other BASIC languages can visit the Other Basic forum to learn about them.

And there's a reason the near-daily release announcements for tB are in the tB forum and not the VB6 forum. Threads dedicated to tB alone belong there, not here. And again, there's a fundamental difference between entire other languages and what's effectively VB7.

If you want to cover the dailies of some Other BASIC in the Other BASIC forum, go for it.
