Parents jailed for sons actions
I'm not sure what to think about the parents being sentenced to 10 -15yrs for their sons actions. I know it's much different now a days. My parents gave me my first gun when I was 9. No trigger locks or special storage. I'm not advocating this, just that it seemed normal to me. I'm actually pro gun securing devices. Had a cousin that killed her brother with her dads handgun, she was @ 10yrs old.
I didn't follow the trial so I don't know how aware the parents were of their sons mental instability. I don't have a major problem with this conviction but it make me worry where this might lead.

It likely will lead nowhere. Everybody involved with the trial pretty much said that this was a very special circumstance. The parents were very aware of their son's issues, and chose to ignore them, often for some fairly sordid reasons.

Glad to hear that, hope your right. When I read that article it worried me because from my experience a lot kids stop talking and listening to their parents @ 15yr. old. It wouldn't necessarily be from gross bad parenting that they wouldn't know what's going on in their kids mind.

Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

I do get worried about setting precedents because prosecutors will take an inch and try to make it a mile.
However, I have to agree with Shaggy on this one. The parents were grossly negligent.
My only gripe with this whole situation is the trying the child as an adult, but that's an issue I have with our justice system in general.

It sounded to me like he had some mental issues going on that we have very little ability to do anything about, at this time. There may be no good answer.

I agree. A 15yr old is not an adult. Their brains are far from fully developed, their whole decision making capabilities are compromised.
