    the err log in the data folder was filling up with hundreds of these entries in red


    by running this on the USER logged into databse on 8.0.36
    ALTER USER 'user'@'%' IDENTIFIED WITH caching_sha2_password BY 'password';

    So what are the future implications of this on programs written to access mysql databases, if the whole native password thing is going away?
    they will have to be rewritten on how they connect to the server?
    Or use the Alter USER from the post above statement?

    Is 'password' also going away.
    ALTER USER 'user'@'%' IDENTIFIED WITH caching_sha2_password BY 'password';

    Using Native Pluggable Authentication
    MySQL client programs use mysql_native_password by default. The --default-auth option can be used as a hint about which client-side plugin the program can expect to use:

    $> mysql --default-auth=mysql_native_password ...

    marked resolved as every db con is no longer piling up that warning in the DESKTOP-H2L8KHA.err file in the DATA folder for the server.
