    Exclamation PM zip links

some people may have projects that others on here are willing to help with, but are for some odd reason not to download outside links.. it's not they are EXE's.. anyways, there should be a way to upload zips and files on here in PM's just as if you were to on the forums. Some projects are confidential. we work hard to design and edit images and what not.. not to just post our stuff on the forums so anyone thinks "oh, that's cool.. i'll take their project and let them do all the hard work for me and just change out the images and such".. some projects are business related and we want to keep them private.

so, if someone on here is willing to work on something with someone.. then it should be allowed to upload and send privately to only those involved with the project.

They can upload it to some private onedrive or something and send the link to the person interested.
No need to bloat the forum with uploads because then we will start complain that the upload size is to low and we need to increase it.
Also you can send just the txt code or you can use a collaboration in github or something similar.

OH and since I talked like one... Down with admins!

That is basically what I wrote in the PM to elRuffsta. AND that No Attachments in PM's is probably a limitation with the vBulletine Software.

Also an option: private repos on GitHub ... that's what I've done with things not ready to release just yet as I work on them. Probably better for collaboration than sharing zip files around.

    Re: PM zip links

isn't there a way to upgrade or add the feature? i am sure there is a way to.. i have had forums before and i could add updates/features to the forum..

like "PHPBB" and "pro boards", etc.. there's always mods/features you can add.. it's not impossible.. and if you guys don't know what the current forum capabilities are.. then it's time to upgrade.. just saying.. infact, i still have one up and running tho i am just about done with it cause i don't have time to deal with it anymore: https://dsgamemaker.online/forum/

i know my forum is simple.. there was no need to go big.. but i could have easily made it much much more complicated and nicer.. for the purpose it serves.. simple was best when i designed it..

    And we like simple too.

Couldn't YOU use YOUR site as a place to exchange the files you want to exchange?

Would rather you zip and post on the thread....not comfortable going to outside sites...sorry.
so what would be the point to do that Steve, if the person doesn't want to use outside links? and no, i don't want to post my finished designed project up in a thread.. i worked too hard on it!

IF thqt's the case, and the two of you are collaborating, then the two of you need to agree on how to share code or what ever... personally, I'd just load the code to a private repo on GitHub, give whom ever you need to a link to it and be done with it.

    Re: PM zip links

i have tried, but if the person doesn't want to do outside forum links.. then there is nothing more i can do about it.. so i guess my project stops.. it's not like it's an .EXE file or anything so i dunno why... it's whatever.. F_it.. just another project out the window.. thanks for the discouragement to keep working on something if you guys can't respect privacy..

it's just fully designed and i worked hard on gathering info and worked/working on images.. so i do not want to upload it publically in the original thread.. whatever then
