    Look to the mirror!
Nah but unfortunately I have worked in a software house and dealt with people with MS shirts and windows phone "proud" owners. I just wanted to shove a disk into thei..never mind, when they where praising w8.

W11 is keen in closing unused connections with it's new concurrent connection core features. Only colors and forms changed....

The is at the bottom of another pet peeve...the snipping tool gets suspended and you can't get it back in view without going to the task manager, unless you just click for a new snip. There is a way to stop that, I'd have to surf for it again, but it was on a program by program basis so I didn't bother.
    Please remember next time...elections matter!

Re: Windows 11 - Show More Options

It's not an issue for me.
Im just pointing our how "great" w11 management is.
Generally I can fix most of the issues one way or another but I'm not a basic user. Others can't.

You've never seen Geoff Chappell's website? (Though I wouldn't call him a defender, a good portion of the site is technical proof of how they've been violating the 90s antitrust settlement since day 1, then there's various other well-justified complaints).

Basic users don't have your issues. So they don't need to fix anything. lol

It's like the difference between an astronaut and a "mission specialist" along for the ride. Just enough training not to kill anyone.

Can't even imagine how many thousands of hours it took to assemble the kinds of info on Windows the site has. Like if you've ever wondered what the undocumented members of the PEB are, and how they've changed in every version from NT 3.1 through 11, his site is the place to go. Must have spent years and years of his life studying Windows, hence the name that immediately comes to mind with 'MS Junkie'

I've read somewhere that Geoff Chappell died two months ago. Hopefully most of the pages of his website has been saved on Archive.org thru it's Wayback Machine. It would be a shame if a good portion of his work goes poof when his website goes offline due to hosting fees. I know it's domain is paid until 2029.

Seems true.. that sucks Dude was absolutely brilliant.

Looks like archive.org has a copy, and I made a personal archive last year. One of the replies to the announcement says arrangements had been made with a friend of his to host the website 'in perpetuity' (but presumably only as long as *that* person is alive). No other single source of information like it.

Re: Windows 11 - Show More Options

    Windows 11 , a bug that became an O/S
So I was on the browser and I'm experiencing random popups of file explorer in the foreground. I did a search and this is an unresolved bug:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...5195a0?page=43
    https://www.howtogeek.com/884624/you...file-explorer/

So that one is still going strong. Maybe they will release a new patch soon but the issue might be that it will impact performance, so they should release a patch that binds to the GPU so we don't have performance issues on the CPU.
Of course people here won't care that browsing or playing a game an left the FE open might do a good ol' alt+tab simulation and crash your game, right when you where ready to kill that Ogre, yes the one that looks like a Golem.
Mind you I haven't experienced so much bugs in an O/S ever but I swiftly never installed Vista or Millennium, just show them on other people. Especially Millennium crashed on the installation and also crashed when installing a mouse giving a blue screen, that was pure poetry but MS is trying hard to surpass everything and everyone right now. Good thing this is the work PC so I can complain to the admins that forced a w11 installation.

Edit. On MS defence they might be doing it on purpose ( aka one good O/S one bad O/S). Of course that does not mean that they are not idiots, they are just poetic idiots.

Re: Windows 11 - Show More Options

I updated to the latest version yesterday.
The random popup file explorer bug still going strong.
I was writhing and running update queries with extreme caution and I was about to do a run and suddenly the FKN popup blocked my view! It was at the exact time, I didn't know what I run and if I run it correctly as it was by selecting portions of the query. I'm at the office with a female colleague inside so cursing was controlled. That made me sad I really wanted to bash w11 loud and proud.

I'm surprised that you couldn't come up with a solution to that....the controlled cursing, that is. Cursing is more in how you say it, rather than the actual words used. Nobody seems to know that better than you.

I can't do that in the office. They will send me to the HR department that will suggest to be seen by a psychiatrist, so, never again!

I used to have a few MS shirts. Mostly thin cheap T shirts given away at local seminar events.

Anyone remember when they actually had dev events besides the fatcat conferences of today?

I find that those thin, cheap, t-shirts are really good for workouts.

I would be too embarrassed to wear one in a gym, I would feel like a total idiot (you are thinking it, you are thinking it right? )

I actually wasn't till you mentioned it...but now I can't think of anything else.

My theory for gym-wear is that people wear what they wouldn't wear elsewhere (there are a LOT of 'W' in that sentence). Conference shirts are good for that.
