Nobody is going to pay to do extensive modifications to a 25 year old closed source IDE. You'd be very constrained in what you can do anyway, even groups who've made brilliant addins that do all manner of fancy things like the Rubberduck team and CodeSMART haven't been able to add code folding, for instance. 64bit? Forget it. What are you going to do, reverse engineer msvbvm60? Firehacker is one of the most brilliant programmers I've ever seen and he's been working on that at least twice as long as it's taken for twinBASIC to reach it's current point and still isn't done; and I can count the number of people active in the community who could even theoretically help with that on one hand.

twinBASIC is the first, last, and only hope for a backwards compatible successor or for significant upgrades to the language like x64 compilation. The IDE will get better a lot sooner than anyone could make a better IDE, and will be open source, and tB will have command line compilation.
