    Latest VB updates

    Hi All. Is there any link to a download of the latest update/security updates for VB6 enterprise that i can download.

    I dont want to install anything that i shouldn't or that may break my vb6 install

    any suggestions. tks

    SP6 is the last update, assuming you have that you're current.

    no but but i have seen VB60SP6-KB3096896-x86-ENU and seems to be a newer version.? should i install this one?

    Hmmm.. 2 versions of SP6 would certainly explain some weird issues that people pop in with from time to time... i extracted them both and most of the file sizes are different too. This definitely needs some investigation.

    Hi fafalone. tks. looking forward to what you find out. maybe some things were fixed and maybe some broken. would be good to know what version to install.

    KB3096896 replaces KB2708437.

    KB2708437 controls are dated 2012 and 2010.

    While KB3096896 updates only Comctl32.ocx and MScomctl.ocx both dated 5-Nov-2015, the other controls are also dated 2015 (27-Mar-2015?).

    After a KB is applied, the old controls in SysWOW64 are backup to:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\Common\Tools\VB\Controls\Controls_Backup

    I applied both updates so that the KB2708437 controls are moved into the backup folder while the KB3096896 controls are in SysWOW64 and in use.
