Updated Windows 10
Now when I try to run VB6 I get popup that says "Preparing to install", I had to cancel it about 6 times to get out of that loop.
Any ideas?

Somewhere in some Event log (I'm not a fan of how the logs are separated out into so many different categories) there will be an event tied to this message that will indicate what file or registry entry is missing that VB6 is expecting to be there. You might get lucky and find that it is just one file that you can copy to where Windows/VB6 want it to be.
But more than likely you are probably going to have to reinstall VB6.

I got lucky. I tried it again and just let it run, it tried to install Microsoft Office Single Image 2010, then VB started normally, and started ok several times after.🤞

These articles have steps for installing on Windows 10
https://www.raymond.cc/blog/install-...hine-for-java/ (even though the link says Windows 7)

Maybe they will help you get through this spot?
