vb6 - performing a simple bitcoin node handshake with winsock

hi all,

what i need to do is send the initial node version broadcast request packet and receive the version pong back. no further actions (which is why i explained it as "simple" - i'm not trying to program bitcoind in vb6 lol)



which responds with this "verak" message



if anyone can help here - i'll really need my hand held because i know nothing about sending byte packets. again, initializing the handshake is detailed here: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Protocol_...tation#version

I can’t help with the question as proposed but if it were me I would just an existing library in another language and spend my time learning to integrate with existing known working code.

Same time investment but you get an entire library instead of one small function.
.net and c are easy to integrate with. learning to integrate with other languages is one of the best investments you can make as a vb6 developer . Lets you harness endless helper elves since we are such a small community now.
