No longer being notified when someone responds
I am no longer receiving email notifications when someone responds to one of my subscribed posts.
I checked the settings for this: "Default Thread Subscription Mode: Instantly, using email"
My email address is correct.
I checked my spam folder.
I am subscribed to the posts that are getting responses but no notification email.
This stopped working about a week or so ago and never was a problem before.
What else can I check?

TESTING.... Let's see if I get an email..
Few days ago one of the BRASS HATS did some tweaking.... Several of our sites were sending out large amounts of spam...
Course ALL of the Original Rules would still reply.... If you're online at VBF, the system won't send you an email since you're already here.... ETC.

hmmmm....No one else replied.. Kind of killed my ability to see if I'll get an EMAIL.
HINT HINT
Wi-fi went down for five minutes, so I had to talk to my family....They seem like nice people.

G'Day Steve
I have 500+ TABs open across 3 x browsers ( Chrome , FF , Edge ) I can't see how you could determine that I was 'not using' the site - vbForums TAB in focus ???
This could explain why OP is not getting notif. besides the IPV4 in BLs which I have harped on about !!!

Re: No longer being notified when someone responds
Great... Here we go again.... Didn't I mention several time that when YOU, member jg.sa are the ONLY MEMBER in the WORLD that isn't getting emails - the problem is on YOUR END?
When I and others suddenly "Start" NOT Receiving emails after a recent change to the system - the problem is with the site.
Your current email address is funky looking.... I wouldn't use it even to test you..... LOL
Did you ever switch to a GMAIL account like suggested?

Re: No longer being notified when someone responds
I remember having the same problem some years ago with my GMX-Account.
IIRC it was a misconfiguration of VBF having to do with a missing/wrong "tag" in its Mail-headers, so GMX denied acceptance of the mail resp. declaring it as SPAM in their own receiving servers, so it never reached my SPAM-Filters even
EDIT: Found something in my Mails.
My Problems were in March 2018, and i wrote back and forth with "Nick" and "Steve"

No, I am not self-hosting. Just for completeness, I am not having trouble receiving email from anywhere else and my spam folder seems to be working normally too.

Is this problem back again?
I've not received any emails when someone responds to my post.
It used to work just fine.
But now I find someone has responded by logging in here because I get no emails from vbforums.

I was just promised that it'll be fixed by the end of the year..... That's a slight exaggeration but it's the best I can do.

Re: No longer being notified when someone responds
I just had a follow-up phone call with one of the two Editors I answer to. Short version is that I stressed the previous site owners outsourced a lot of the vBulletin issues..... He's going to bring that up.

Hey,
Not sure if we have been formerly introduced or not, but my name is James Payne and I am the editor for the developer sites at TechnologyAdvice. I also help with our various communities as well. I have a long history as a Community Manager for the old Developer Shed sites (if anyone remembers those), so hoping to bring some of that experience here to help fix things and help with engagement etc.
Thought I would check in on this - looking into the notifications and seeing if I can figure out what is going on with them. While I am working on that, please feel free to pop anymore issues in this thread and I'll add them to the list.
You can also reach out to me at james.payne AT technologyadvice.com if you have any immediate needs or find something wrong in the forum as well. Thanks!

Re: No longer being notified when someone responds
I slightly edited your post. Email addresses tend to be picked up by the spiders, resulting in waves of spam. Therefore, your email no longer looks quite like an email.

Ah yes.
I noticed that the notifications are sent from your email, and whatever i do at GMX, it lands in my (actually their) Spam-Filter.
I've whitelisted your domain, your email-address, even added your Mail to my contacts, activated that GMX-Thingy "GMX will learn when you move something from SPAM to Inbox". No, nothing, still Spam.
Ideas?

You need to contact GMX and ask them to White List the domain name. Looks like it's being filtered before it gets to you.
