Adding toolbox controls
With the toolbox open, I want to add several controls.
I have tried the choose items option and the checkboxes are already checked. However when I return to the toolbox they are not there. I also tried resetting the TB but again not in TB. I went sofar as to uncheck them reset TB the checked them again. Same result.
I then tried the note in the TB saying to jus drag and drop control into TB.
Tried that butI get the crossed out circle.
The controls I want are therive,Directory and filelist box.
Will someone tell me or better yet descrbie my error/mistake?
I am using VS 2019 and 2022 and the results are the same..
ARGH!!

Re: Adding toolbox controls
Why would I download a Word document when you could just post the information directly?

Re: Adding toolbox controls
Sorry. Still getting used to the best way to ask questions.
I chuckled at your reply, cuz I would have probably answered the same way
I'll repost with the info
Adding controls to toolbox 3 methods
Method 1
1. The first method I tried was to click inside the toolbox and select “Choose Items.”
2. I select that option and immediately a screen comes up and shows Toolbox items
3. There are 4 options:
a. .Net Framework Components
b. Com components
c. Universal Windows Components
d. WPF Components.
4. I first selected the .Net Framework Components.
a. I select the three controls I wish to add by checking the selection box.
i. DriveListBox
ii. DirectoryListbox
iii. FileListBox
b. I am the given 3 options:
i. Browse
ii. OK
iii. Cancel
iv. Reset
5. I first select OK and I am returned to the toolbox, but the controls are not there,
Method 2
6. Next, I choose items and uncheck the 3 boxes for the controls I wish to add. I then choose “reset”
a. I then go back and check the three boxes of the desired controls.
b. I click “OK”
c. A screen appears that says the controls were successfully added to the toolbox
See picture below
7. I click OK and return to the toolbox.
8. Again, they are not there.
Method 3
1. I right click in toolbox.
2. I select “choose items”
3. After selection I return to toolbox, check for the controls and I see the following:
4.
5. I have tried every way I know of to drag a control, but there is no dragging.
I am totally baffled! I need these three specific controls. BTW, I am just doing this as a hobby.
I hope this makes sense, as I don’t know what more you might need. VS 2022.
You have helped me out a lot with your advice and help.
I really appreciate your advice and help
Is there a workaround?

Re: Adding toolbox controls
What project template did you use to create the project you have open when tried to add these items to the Toolbox? I would expect this to work for a .NET Framework WinForms project and probably a .NET Core WinForms project too, but not WPF or something else.
