    This is a VB.NET forum. Are you writing VB.NET code? If so then this is a good place to ask questions when you have trouble. Note that every version of VB from 2002 is VB.NET, even though the .NET suffix was dropped in 2005.

    Re: Visual studio??

    Thanks for the quick reply!!
    I am still a newby so please just bear with me while I find my way around.

    I have downloaded the free version of visual studio and it comes with a
    visual basic programming package builtin .
    Am I correct in assuming that this is VB.NET ? or is VB.Net something else?
    ( I used to program in basica about 30 years ago and as I now need some
    addons to my accounting package I am going to try my hand at writing them
    with visual basic.
    your advice is sincerely appreciated.

    Re: Visual studio??

    Visual Studio is the integrated developing environment (IDE), which is to say that it is a tool that helps you develop, compile, and debug code for various programming languages.

    Visual Basic .NET (VB.NET) is the programming language.

    Visual Studio is robust and allows you to develop using multiple languages, including (but not limited to):
    • VB.NET
    • C#
    • F#
    • C++
