    To hide the parental control program from the child. Otherwise, he sees it, enters the menu and realizes that it must be bypassed or disabled. And he starts looking for a way to do this.

    Depending on how knowledgeable the child is, they might just look in Task Manager or Services. You can set the user profile to hide the icon, but that can be overridden by the user. To really hide the application, you would need the software author to provide a means for that.
