[RESOLVED] Win XP NY 5.1 question hardware
I am not sure what my USB ports are on my Dell optiplex 755 (there are 2 in the front)
Where in control panel would I find if they are USB 2 or 3?

Re: Win XP NY 5.1 question hardware
I would think that the USB Controllers section in Device Manager should tell you. Wouldn't the Dell site be able to tell you though? According to PC World, that machine has six USB 2.0 ports. The spec sheet says the same. It's a shame they don't have search engines round your way.

Apparently you don't know how to use them because I simply copied "Dell optiplex 755" from your post, pasted it into Bing and the links I provided were second and fourth in the results. It took me seconds to answer your question with keywords you already had so I do have to wonder what you were searching for.

We french are lucky with search engine: the first entry for "Dell optiplex 755" is the dell documentation page https://www.dell.com/support/home/fr...iplex-755/docs (in french of course )
who gives access to the user manual saying 8 USB ports : 2 front and 6 rear all USB 2.0
regards

I'm Australian so maybe we don't get as many commercial results for this either but I find it hard to believe that finding this information would be that hard in the US, assuming that's where the OP is. Regardless, I was just able to find the same information in a couple of minutes on the US Dell site. It just seems to me that the greater our access to information, the less effort people are prepared to put into finding it. I think back to my university days in the 90s and how difficult it would have been to find this information if you didn't have the original paper manual compared to how easy it is today.

oh yes, I remember that keeping all manuals just in case and also looking desperately for suppliers in the Kompass Book or cherish the only basic language manual because it was the only thing we had to learn how to program (no forum, no possibility to exchange). By the way at that time the computer and any components (graphic card, motherboard, etc) or programs were delivered with user manuals, not just a two pages "starting quickly"
Internet, in some way but not all, improved our life because we have access to a lot of information (sometime too much). I guess our luck is to have known the time when we didn't have all this ease. We learned to use new technologies as they arrived. And we appreciate what we have.
My wife gives class on "how to use google search (or other engine) to do a efficient search", can you believe that. When I saw her prepare her lesson, I thought it was a joke but no, it was not.

So simple that you could have answered it for yourself in minutes, if not seconds.

No matter how hurt your feelings are at having it pointed out, it is a fact that you asked a question that you could have answered for yourself very easily. I don't know about you but I would rather answer my own questions if possible. The question is whether, despite your outward bluster to divert attention from your actions, whether you will actually learn something and not make the same mistake again. Some people can do that as long as they save face publicly. Others insist on repeating the same mistake in an attempt to prove that it's not a mistake. I guess only time will tell what category you fall into.
