    Win10 version 2004 update

i've read elsewhere (not sure of reliability) of some issues with the recent Windows 10 update 2004. Are there any negative impacts of this update on VB6 applications? Just wondering.

    Re: Win10 version 2004 update

The last several updates didn't affect me. The 3rd Win10 (if I recall) did and I had to reinstall VB and some other apps.

I've been running 2004 for a bit, nothing to note. However, that's not saying there aren't potential problems. I remember one update that broke ADO from using variant arrays for bookmarks. Since I generally don't do that, I didn't notice the problem. But after I saw others posting about it, I tried it in a test app and sure as heck -- problem existed for me too.

Guess what I'm saying is that if you see comments regarding update bugs, try to reproduce the problem yourself. Usually, if there's enough people complaining about particular "new features", aka bugs, MS isn't too far behind with a patch for the problem.

seems to cause problems with vb6 apps using Access database engine,
calling win kernel api's or external DLLs (like clsStringBuilder)
they seem to just hang and close
vb6 components seem to be mysteriously removed by the win10 msdefender virus utility?

I just installed 2004, and ran my primary application through its paces, and everything seems to be fine.

One thing I did (very pleasantly) notice is that the red "drag" rectangles for controls seem to be back when I multi-select and move them during design-time.

Just got Feature update to Windows 10, version 20H2, like it! Now we can add emoj from keyboard by Press Windows logo key + period (.) to open an emoji panel. Use kaomojis to create faces with text, and symbols—like punctuation and currency—to make a statement.
