    Having scoured my downloads
I have found a further 600+ projects from 2015-2019 these will be available in the next few days. There is also some code snippets (without zips) but unsure atm how many. I used 2015 as my starting point as 2012-2015 seems lost due to PSCs data loss.

#6 on the list (fortypoundhead) is in no danger of going away. Quite the opposite.

As for the others, I'll start making contact with the site owners this weekend for status. If they are not planning on continuing, I'll work with them to archive their content over to my own site.

Thanks for pointing me at this list; I hadn't seen it previously.

    Hi all!

I read on this topic that PSC is gone...
I need to download an old shared PSC code from the following link:
https://vbcoders.com/code/a-[-update-your-program-with-liveupdate-a_57136.html but the zipped file is 0kb...
Any chance to find it in one of repositories that some of you kindly share here? And if yes, please anyone can explain me how to find it?
    Thanks in advance

You will need the free 7Zip program to unzip them (those that have not tried 7zip, should do themselves a favor, and get it)
I have placed that single file on to my Google Drive
If anyone wants them, PM me to get a link.
I did not paste the link here, in case Google has a limit on how many people can download things ?
These are the identical CDs that PSC always has available for download from their site.
EG They can be installed, and then grant you access 15 times.

PS my earlier post describes them -

Here is a link to the torrent: PSC-JUMBO_RESOURCE_CD_archive.torrent

Everything this is provided by the good hoarders at archive.org.

Keep in mind that the ZIP files of the submissions on these CDs are encrypted.

Also note that all the submissions were decrypted, unzipped and uploaded as separate source code repositories under PSC orgianization on github with a separate index repo.

    cheers,

Yes, thanks, I have searched everything I could find in the links. The only hope I have is that with over 2000 hits on the code, someone might still have it. Can't remember for sure but I think the zip was something like Games.zip with added numbers of course. The screenshot was swirling game pieces in the shape of an old pistol.

    Thanks again for replies

Very sorry to hear of your loss (our house burned (all except a small closed in porch which I had made into an office, and saved a LOT of cd's, zip disks and even some floppies (for those of you who know what they are) in Dec 2004. Lost a 34-foot RV, a 1930 Ford Roadster and and a tractor in that fire...but my wife and I made it out okay at about 2 AM--Thank God, and the kid that God sent from a few houses away who was remarkably awake at that time of the morning and ran and knocked on our door...we made it out with minutes to spare.
Yes, my desktop was no good any more, but at least I had several backups of projects/programs that did not burn (also had some, including my VB6 original disks, at work). Other than the Roadster, all else has been replaced since then (of course, I DO now own a 1934 Plymouth PE Coupe).

JFYI, had some time to upload original .zip files to each and every repo on PSC org on github.com from Elroy's AllTheZipFilesZipped (before deleting binaries) archive.

Now under each repo's releases tab you will find a release tagged Original ZIP containing the original submission w/ no files removed so might contain DLLs, binaries and/or other malicious content.

    cheers,

Thank you for bringing this old project (EVO Battle) back to my memory!
I have to congratulate myself on this work; I have to say that I used to do really interesting things.
This causes me dual emotions; on the one hand it makes me proud, on the other hand I realize how old my synapses have gotten. :-))

Just FYI, there are absolutely viruses in some of the executables of the original zip files.

Sure! If you find one you can post warnings in Issues of the respective repo on github.

I might try to automate the search by testing each .zip with Windows Defender if time permits.

Unfortunately there are the cases when a .vbw opens a .frm with a custom UserControl from the project sited on it, which gets ReadProperties executed and at this point can download and infect client host, which happens as early as on project load.

The only thing a bit reassuring is that all the malware/viruses must so dated by now it is either non-functional (C&C servers taken down) or detected by virtually 100% of the anti-virus software. These would be like some ancient viruses they find nowadays in permafrost :-))

    Re: Re PlanetSourceCode

    @wqweto

I noticed that some of my projects fail to read some files.
You probably need to place this "*.txt eol=crlf" in the file ".gitattributes"
For example, this project fails to load ".doll" files presumably for the same reason. (so maybe it works with "*.doll eol=crlf")

To read files line by line they uses:
    Code:
     Open App.Path & "\" & Filename For Input As 1
      Input #1, Var1
      Input #1, Var2
    ...

    PS
I partially understand gitattributes. Little knowledge
    I usually use this gitattributes:
    Code:
    # Auto detect text files and perform LF normalization
    * text=auto

    # Custom for Visual Studio
    *.cs diff=csharp
    *.sln merge=union
    *.csproj merge=union
    *.vbproj merge=union
    *.fsproj merge=union
    *.dbproj merge=union
    *.ctx -diff
    *.frx -diff
    *.res -diff
    *.RES -diff
    *.bas eol=crlf
    *.cls eol=crlf
    *.ctl eol=crlf
    *.frm eol=crlf
    *.txt eol=crlf
    *.vbp eol=crlf

    # Standard to msysgit
    *.doc diff=astextplain
    *.DOC diff=astextplain
    *.docx diff=astextplain
    *.DOCX diff=astextplain
    *.dot diff=astextplain
    *.DOT diff=astextplain
    *.pdf diff=astextplain
    *.PDF diff=astextplain
    *.rtf diff=astextplain
    *.RTF diff=astextplain

    Re: Re PlanetSourceCode

Yes, I tried to mark unknown extensions as binary in .gitattributes so no crlf translation would happen but might have been unsuccessful.

Hopefully having the original .zip now would be useful escape hatch for situations like this.

Edit: Now I see it’s missing the “* binary” line — ooops!

    Hi Wqweto,

Yeah, that's not exactly the approach I took. When I first started looking at it all, I did some scans, and Microsoft Defender reported quite a few problems. Then, when I wasn't too far into it, I decided I wanted to post it all on these forums (seen here). So, I just launched into a couple of days work to remove all the executables, not really keeping track of where the viruses were.

And yeah, hopefully, as you say, all those viruses are so old that they can't cause much harm. But, it's always better to be safe than sorry ... and we should just re-compile if that's possible.
