I have a new laptop with Windows 10 and for a week or so the Google voice search worked fine. Now all of a sudden it keeps coming up with "Didn't get that. Try again". But it is sporadic and there is no pattern to it failing. But for the most part it fails and is never consistent. Every once in a while it will recognize a word or to and open up the search but it is unreliable. For example if I say repeat "home home home" it may open the search on home. I can repeat that a second time and get "Didn't get that. Try again". I have tried:
1. Reinstalling Google Chrome a couple times.
2. Tested my microphone several times.
3. Verified the language is English.
4. Repeated the test sentence for setting up the microphone several times.
I've been all over the internet and can't find any real help for it. That is strange in itself. For the most part almost anything that goes wrong on a computer you can find some help online. I consider myself competent in researching issues online and do it for a living. I can't track this down. I get hits on Google phones and a couple other apps but not Google Chrome on Windows 10.
I'd appreciate some suggestions. I just love the Google voice search when it is working. I suspect it is my laptop but it is brand new and worked for the first couple weeks.

Explain this better... Are you saying the words HOME HOME HOME
all together as in one after the other? What exactly would you like Home Home Home to do?
Just said it three times in a row trying to get it to hear. It takes a sound to activate the microphone icon on Google and then I was just trying different words like that testing it's recognition. Sometimes it would recognize them and sometimes not. Windows says the microphone is fine. I Googled trying to record my voice and playing it back to listen to it but haven't done that yet. The laptop is only a couple weeks old but I suppose the microphone could be bad.
Does anyone know of something on the web that is voice sensitive I could try?
The best friend of any programmer is a search engine

Very good suggestion! Cortana can hear me clearly. I've already reinstalled Google a few times. I'm not sure what to do now. I never used Cortana before; I think I'll try it out a bit.
I just tested it for the first time... Worked like a charm.
I HAD to click on the Google microphone to get it to display "Speak Now"
I said HOME one time and it freaked me out real well by telling me my home address.
I then said Home Depot and it showed and said all sorts of things about HD.
EDIT: Google Chrome is up to date

Its my favorite search engine. I reinstalled it, said William Shakespeare, got lots of hits, closed it, said it again, and it failed. Failed every time after that. Strange...
There was nothing I did in particular. I bought a $2.99 app that was supposed to make Cortana, which can hear me with no problem, use Google but it keeps using Bing. I could get my money back but I'm not going to bother. The next thing I was going to try was to see if a friend's voice could be heard as suggested.
