What am I doing wrong
I've recently switched to VS 2015. Before I was able to debug.print to have things show up in the output or immediate window.
Now something very strange is happening. All I want to do is get "hello" to appear in the output window or the immediate window.
If I create a new application then these all work:
Code:
debug.print("hello")
debug.writeline("hello")
trace.writeline("hello")
Yet on my current application none of these work. I'm unable to set a breakpoint on any of these lines of code and if I step through my form load event it skips through all of my attempts to have "hello" show up. I can't even set a breakpoint on any of them.
Code:
Private Sub Form1_Load(sender As Object, e As EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load
Debug.WriteLine("hello")
Debug.Print("hello")
Trace.WriteLine("hello")
Me.Test_worklistTableAdapter.Fill(Me.RCMDataSet.test_worklist)
Dim testdate As Date
For Each row As DataGridViewRow In DataGridView1.Rows
DOS = CDate(row.Cells(7).Value)
tfl_DAYS = CInt(row.Cells(14).Value)
Debug.WriteLine(tfl_DAYS.ToString)
testdate = DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, tfl_DAYS, DOS)
Debug.WriteLine(testdate.ToString)
If testdate < DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 1, Date.Now) And testdate <= DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 10, Date.Now) Then
row.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.LightPink
End If
If testdate >= DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 11, Date.Now) And testdate <= DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 30, Date.Now) Then
row.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Yellow
End If
If testdate >= DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 31, Date.Now) And testdate <= DateAdd(DateInterval.Day, 45, Date.Now) Then
row.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.LightGreen
End If
If testdate < Date.Now Then
row.DefaultCellStyle.BackColor = Color.Red
End If
Next
End Sub

Project Settings > Compile Tab > Advanced Compile Options > make sure "Define Debug Constant" is checked
Process control doesn't give you good quality, it gives you consistent quality.
Good quality comes from consistently doing the right things.
Vague general questions have vague general answers. A $100 donation is required for me to help you if you PM me asking for help. Instructions for donating to one of our local charities will be provided.

Re: What am I doing wrong
It sounds like you are running the Release build.

Re: What am I doing wrong
VS2015 is considerably more diligent about release/debug than previous versions.
My usual boring signature: Nothing
