Re: Latest Trend Marketing on Internet

Social Media Marketing is trending method now.....
Because of the widespread use of social media and the fact that it is relatively inexpensive, this medium has become an integral platform for brands, companies and organizations to market themselves.

One of the main tenets of social media use is sharing, which helps support the role of social media platforms as a medium. Social media marketing has proven successful in allowing brands to create awareness, as users share their content within their own networks of social connections.

As far as I can tell the rubes are tripping over each other trying to blow money for online betting on sfarting events. Football, basketball, soccer, rugby, curling, tiddlywinks, you name it. If you can toke dope on the couch covered in Cheeto dust while watching other people do it, damned fools will bet on it.

    Man, THAT's true!

I've often wondered whether I could get somebody to place a bet on last years Super Bowl. Betting on this year's Super Bowl is much more risky, after all.

I've been thinking about that very thing today. Buckle up and hold on friend. I'm gonna give you the game. I'm going to give you a crash course on social media. I spend a lot of time of social media keeping up with current events in a lot of different spheres so I like to think that I have a very good idea of what works and what doesn't.

The most important thing you need to understand about 2023 is that we live in an attention economy. Everything is about views, likes, followers, subs etc. This is the game and if you want to market yourself on the internet today, you MUST understand this. You must find a way to grab people's attention and grab it quickly.

There are many ways to grab people's attention but they all have one thing in common, they all make your potential audience feel something. You MUST make them feel. There a different ways you can tackle so let's go though a couple of them.

    Shock and divide

I'll start with the best way and the one that takes the most balls to pull of. You need to shock people. Get them to like you, get them to hate you it doesn't matter, just get them to feel something. The particular thing about shocking people that really makes it potent is it's potential for polarizing people. Because once that happens, it takes on a life of it's own without you having to do anything much. Your haters and your fans will be locked in a state of constant warfare all over social media which results in you getting a lot of attention that you can monetize. A couple examples of people that have utilized this method are Logan Paul, Andrew Tate, Kevin Samuels(dead) and Dylan Mulvaney. Every single one of these people have went from relative nobodies to some of the most influential people on the planet in record time because they are extremely polarizing and tend to work people into a frenzy with their antics.

However, there is a downside to this method, it makes you a lot of enemies and sometimes very powerful enemies. This method is the most effective but it is not for the feint of heart. You also need to be extremely extroverted to be comfortable with this path overall.

    Femininity, sexuality and lonely men

This one is more for the ladies. Remember the overall theme is getting people to feel something. Now for reasons I'm not going to get into here, there is an epidemic of men who are desperately lonely and this demographic has a lot of disposable income that they are more than willing to part with just for the chance at human connection with the opposite sex. Now you might be thinking I'm talking about porn but that is actually the worse way to go about it. Porn just doesn't connect deeply enough. I mean it can and does work but the ways of doing it without taking your clothes off are actually far more powerful. With the right approach, you can have millions of worshipers ready to send you all that they have just for you to acknowledge their existence. The general idea is to portray an image of attainability without actually being attainable. Make them feel like they have a chance with you. Make them feel like you understand them and what they are going through in their lives. They just want that connection and will pay anything to get it.

For examples of true masters of this art, look no further than Pokimane and Amouranth. Now there are far more than just these two but they are the most well known. Now Amouranth is almost a porn star. She dances just on the edge of being a full blown porn star. Her content is extremely racy but she hasn't ignored the fact that she needs to connect to her audience of lonely desperate men. Her ability to combine racy displays with her sensual online persona has earned her a legion of adoring fans that will literally die for her.

Pokimane is the same but she is the true genius. She is the furthest thing from a porn star as one can imagine. She isn't even that attractive but what she does well is connect to her audience and give them hope. All she does is sit in from of a computer pretending to be interested in the same things as her audience of desperate lonely men like cat videos and video games. However, the touch of genius comes in how she utilizes femininity and a bit of sexuality. She overplays the "girly girl" persona while being very clever about what she wears and how she positions herself in front of the camera. For example, she would wear tight leggings and sit in such a way that on the surface looks innocent but she damn well knows how it excites her audience. Sometimes she might push it a bit by bending over to pick something up while feigning complete ignorance about her what her legions of thirsty lonely men are actually paying attention to. Now she doesn't do this in a sexual way but she knows it doesn't stop the imagination of her fans from running wild. Her audience just eats all this up. She is literally worshipped by millions of men just for doing normal everyday things.

This has been an extremely popular way for ambitious women to make it for the last few years. Both Pokimane are Amrouranth are more wealthy than we can imagine because of how well they understood how to capitalize off the legions of lonely men out there looking for a connection.

    Be extremely good at something

This one is more obvious and is probably the oldest method of getting attention, even before the internet and social media. It's also the least controversial and no less potent today than it was for thousands of years. What is interesting about this approach in the modern age is that there are more things than ever before that you can become good at that will get you attention. Video games is the best example of this. 30 years ago being good at a video game meant you probably impressed your friends but it also meant you were a loser because you wasted all this time honing a skill that is utterly useless in the real world. Those days are over. Today that can earn you more wealth than you can imagine. Tyler1, xqc, Ninja, TF Blade, Doublelift, Yassuo. These are just a small fraction of people with massive audiences rivaling that of some politicians that have monetized their attention to the tune of millions of dollars just by being good at one video game or another and putting their awesome skill on display for all to see.

Now it doesn't just have to be video games. You have people like The Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube who makes a lot of videos picking all manner of locks in mere seconds. As a result of this impressive display of skill in this art, he has amassed 4 million plus subscribers on YouTube. For anyone that doesn't know, when you cross a million subs of YouTube, it means you never have to work for the rest of your life. You also have people like Cesar Milan, the dog whisperer. His skill with dogs has earned him millions of fans worldwide. His YouTube channel alone boasts about 2 million plus subscribers. He could live off that alone for the rest of his life if he wanted.

Now lets talk about social media platforms.

Everything I talked about above is just about getting attention. Now lets talk about social media platforms.

Lets get this out of the way right off the bat. The one platform you want to be on no matter what is Twitter. Twitter is where you connect with your audience and it's also the central hub of conversation. If you want to be somebody in the internet, more often than not you will need Twitter. Your schemes are not going be nearly as effective without it. Twitter is a MUST.

Now Twitter is not where you want to build your audience primarily, it's where you send the audience you have built elsewhere. The best place right now in 2023 to gain lots of attention very very quickly is TikTok hands down. There is just no better platform right now for building an audience and getting lots of attention.

If you want more of a slow burn, your options are YouTube or Twitch. Now understand this, all people that have been successful marketing themselves on the internet, use ALL platforms but they usually have a primary one. For example, Pokimane is primarily a Twitch streamer but she also has a YouTube channel with about 6 million plus subscribers. So she is making crazy money from not one but two platforms at the same time. All of them do this.

Lets talk about Instagram for a second. Remember, everything is about making people feel. When you're building an audience, you want people to feel a connection to you. They want to know about you and your life. Instagram is the best place to put this on display. Put up pictures and videos of the exciting things you're doing in your life and sometimes, depending on how fanatical your fans are, you can even put up the most inane things and they will still eat it up. Pokimane can put up a picture of herself eating a bowl of soup and people will be writing essays about it.

    Putting it all together

Lets put it all together and see how it works. Lets imagine that you're an expert marksman that is proficient in the use of many projectile weapons like different types of fire arms and bow and arrow type weapons. You will want to start with a YouTube channel where you display your impressive skill. Perhaps you make a video where you hit a series or targets using different fire arms. You might make multiple videos like this. While doing this you're also creating short form versions of these videos for TikTok. You might make a 10 second video of you hitting a bullseye repeatedly with a Glock or perhaps you make a TiKTok where you successfully hit a series of moving targets using a compound bow. Impressive feats like this are sure to get attention.

Eventually, your impressive feats will result in one of your TikToks going viral eventually. This will generate interest in you and your TikTok info will have links to your Twitter and your main YouTube channel. Your YouTube will have longer form content as TikTok is just for very short videos that grab attention quickly. Your YouTube videos will be more detailed and longer, perhaps even with commentary. The virality of your TikTok will drive up the viewership of your YouTube channel and on both platforms, you will also have links to your Twitter. Twitter is where you talk to your audience. You might have conversations about which firearms are your favorite or the kinds of videos your audience wants to see. Many people be interested in who you are as a person, this is where you utilize Instagram. There you might have pictures of you playing with your dog or attending some event. By giving them these small windows into your life it will connect you to your audience in a very meaningful way that will benefit you in the long run.

The thing you need to understand here is that between TikTok, Twitter and YouTube, once you go viral on one of these platforms, it creates a feedback loop that has a life of it's own which generates more and more viewers, followers, subs etc. For example on Twitter your audience will be re-tweeting your stuff which leads to more people finding out about you which leads to them re-tweeting and so on. This is essentially how marketing has been working for the past few years on the internet.

Great, so how do I make money from it?

Well that's the easy part. All of the stuff I talked about above are the difficult stuff that will require years of trial and error before you hit it big and get an audience. Once you become popular, the money comes with it. Sponsorships is probably the biggest one. Both YouTubers and Twitch streams make a lot of their money from sponsorships. Companies that want to advertise would approach you and offer you big money for access to your audience. YouTubers do this all the time. Dashlane, ExpressVPN, NordVPN, Manscapped are just some of the brands out there that advertise on Twitch and YouTube by sponsoring content creators on these platforms.

On Twitch in particular, you will also be making money from subscriptions which are like small donations that gives you access to special features like emotes. Twitch takes something like 40% I think and the rest goes to the content creator. If you have a massive audience like Tyler1, Trainwreckstv, Pokimane, Amouranth or Adin Ross, this can easily add up to thousands of dollars PER DAY of streaming just for a few hours. Also note that this is completely separate from brand sponsorships. So Twitch alone gives you two streams of income. Even small streamers on Twitch with only a few thousand viewers are make a lot of money, a lot more than the average person.

You can also make money by directly promoting your own products. If you have an audience of say 1 million people across multiple platforms and you can convert just 10% of them into paying customers that buy something from you that costs only 10 dollars, well you just made a million dollars.

You can even use dirty tactics to monetize attention. For example, Logan Paul is known for encouraging his audience to buy a crypto which he has secretly bought at a low price. The massive influx of new buyers that comes from his promotion of the crypto drives up the price. He then sells it off at the higher price earning nice profits to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars. This of course means a lot of people lose big in this scheme but it works.

I dropped a lot of names in this post and every single one of those people are multi-millionaires because they were able to monetize their massive audience in one way or another.

So you know all this, why aren't you doing it?

Why am I not using this knowledge to enrich myself I can hear you asking. Here's the God's honest truth. I am afraid. I am scared to death of any kind of fame. Once you open this door there is no going back. Everything you do, everything you say will be your legacy forever. You cannot go from being a nobody to a somebody and then back to a nobody. When you blow up on the internet that's it for the rest of your life. As much as I might be tempted by the potential riches, I am not sure I ever want to open this door. You make a mistake and say the wrong thing, it's there forever and will follow you for the rest of your life and you will be judged for it, perhaps unfairly. Also, I don't care how nice of a person you are, you will get a sizable portion of people that hate your guts for one reason or another no matter what you do. If you have an audience of 1 million people and 1% of those people hate you, that's 10,000 people out there that know who you are, what you look like and they hate your guts. I don't think I could live comfortably knowing there are 10,000 people out there hoping I get hit by a truck. For all I know one of them may try it. I'm not built for fame, not even modest fame so as much as I believe I understand all of this, I don't think I'm going to opt in anytime soon. For now, I enjoy being a nobody and not being under constant public scrutiny or receiving thousands of emails per day of people wishing I died from cancer.

So there you go. A nearly full education on internet marketing for 2023 and beyond. Good luck.

The hot ticket might be something in the marketing of newly approved patent medicines, er, proprietary drugs. I see lots of ads for that stuff.

Disclaimers can get pretty weird, but I'm sure the pusher will provide you the copy to recite that their lawyers have drafted. Saw an ad for some drug that can be risky for "those assigned as female at birth." Funny how such an "assignment" can have such serious biological implications, huh? Does that also imply if "assigned" otherwise the same individual is safe to suck down those pills all day?

Peculiar "science" aside, this sounds like a growth area for profit. Maybe even more lucrative than stealing underpants.

So don't be shocked if your favorite Cat Video artiste doesn't make enough from the hosting company's ad placements and leaning against the lamp post over at Patreon... and starts inserting ads for "bent carrot cure" within posted videos.

No, don't go to BentCarrot dot com either. It may not be safe for your workplace and even if it is you probably don't want to risk a coworker caching a look at your screen.

    lmao.....

You're just begging the gender brigade to come crash this party aren't you...

This is actually the perfect example of one of the things I was talking about above, if they take the bait, this thread is about to get a lot of attention...

Oh they never are. Can't believe I forgot to mention Patreon in my previous post. Panhandling on Patreon is a tried and true method of generating income quickly for your burgeoning social media career.

Niya, that was a good post back there. You put a lot of thought into it and covered different things pretty well. However, as you are probably aware, this is a less real thread than most in Chit-Chat. It's basically a bot trap with a few sarcastic replies. Your reply could be seen as cynical, though real, not sarcastic. Bots likely won't care.

I know. The important this is that it's here for future reference and for any lurker that may be looking for something interesting to read.

Also, there are people far more eloquent and knowledgeable than me that have covered elements of many things I said in far greater detail. My take is more like a grass-roots level informal overview kinda like how you'd have a casual conversation with friends over drinks, just perfect for Chit-Chat.
