Bees.
Hi all,
We have had a bee hive under our tool shed for quite a while now, and since it was winter we didn't really go outside a lot , but now that is summer again they have to go. I Want them gone/dead since i'm allergic to bee stings.
I'm thinking of mixing coke and borax and putting it near the hive so that they focus on the poisoned coke instead of me. Anyone have other suggestions on how to kill bees ?

Re: Bees.
If you are allergic I would suggest ringing a pest controller to remove the bees for you.

Re: Bees.
What kind of bee? Don't you have some kind of chemical bee killing spray?

Re: Bees.
Bumblebees die off naturally during fall season. Honeybees could be a problem. The chemical spray Sevin ( Carbaryl - an active ingredient ) could probably kill them.

FunkyDexter's idea is the best. AK47's great for killing bees and civil wars. I'll quickly go ask a police officer if he might know where I can get one.
EDIT: Lol, and since we have a friendly politician that is declaring war on white people, it's not such a bad idea.
[I think I'm going get those things that you light that create poisonous smoke and throw one in the nest and then block the nest]

Take off and nuke it from orbit; it's the only way to be sure.
I'd call pest control.

Re: Bees.
Bathe the thing, shed included, with kerosene and set it on fire. It's effective for an anthill, should also work for those pesky bees.: p
Then have a rice party when everything is clear.

Can of Aquanet + Bar-b-q lighter + Balls of Steel = Homemade Bee Torch
In all seriousness though I know all you need to take out wasps is a spray bottle with a water and dish soap mixture. In our areas we get a lot of red wasp/mud dauber infestations. If you hit them with the soapy water mixture they literally drop out of the air, twitch for a second, and die. Non poisonous, cheap, and effective. If the nests got big we'd load up one of those garden spray attachments to an outside hose and wash it down from a distance. Not sure if it's effective against honey/bumble bees though.
Where I'm from we only have one bit of advice for new comers: "If you hear banjos, turn and run".

Re: Bees.
Bees, like other insects, breathe fairly passively through holes in the abdomen (the name of which I have forgotten, and am too lazy to look up). Therefore, spraying them with just about anything kills them. Alcohol of any sort will drop a bee in a second. Unfortunately, alcohol tends to evaporate too rapidly to be especially effective against a nest. Furthermore, if the type of alcohol is ethanol, too much of it generally goes into the applicator for any to work against the bees. Worse yet, once the applicator has ingested enough alcohol, not only does BackWoodsCoders bee torch look more appealing, but their aim becomes much worse. The result can be disaster.
Soapy water works because it clogs up the air holes and asphyxiates the insects. If you can get sufficient foaming action, the soapy water will also linger over the hive enterance, killing the bees inside and out as they try to pass through it.

Re: Bees.
Do what BackWoodsCoder said. Double your efficiency by throwing your dishes near the beehive, their bumbling flight paths in the throes of death will leave your pots and pans with a bright sparkly morning shine.

Anyone have any brilliant solutions for pharaoh ants? Regular bait stations may have killed some, but not nearly enough! They seem to go nuts for... nuts (almonds, walnuts, any utensil that has been within a mile of peanut butter, even if there is presently no peanut butter on it), so I'm thinking I'll try mixing up some peanut butter with ant poison...

Re: Bees.
You might try Borax. You might also try embalming fluids. After all, every dead pharaoh we have ever found has been filled with the stuff. Some people think that it was added after they died, but do we really know that? It is SO much easier to kill them that way, and I'm sure the ancient Egyptians were smart enough to realize that.
Still, Borax works for some kinds of ants. You have to get something that they will take back to the queen, though. Killing the individual ants gains you nothing.

You don't need to go to that length. The plague of frogs, alone, should take care of an insect problem.

There have also been a lot of crickets around; we set out a glue trap and checked it a few days later to find many stuck and/or dead crickets... and one dead lizard, that had presumably attempted to eat the crickets. Whoops.

BS, is that you ? Ok, here is an update. I heard that the queen bee has sent a spy to have a look at this thread, and the plans going on to kill them. The bees are getting more intelligent. Better keep the keyboard away..... Have you finished the job or are they still there ?

if they are honey bees, hire a circus bear to get rid of them.

I doubt there are bears in South-Africa. I don't even think our circuses have them.

Get an anteater. Yeah, they eat ants, and you have bees, but they are in the same family, so maybe you could fool the anteater....or get it drunk.

The real reason why I'm asking is that a few weeks ago I had a solution for my bee problem, but then the worst thing happened! I lost it.
