What pay range do .NET Developers make with 5 years experience?
For a large corporation in a city, developing & maintaining .Net & C# code ASP ect.; What can a person with 5 years experience expect for pay?

Easy, just search some job boards for the type of job and location as location will have varied pay. See what employers are offering to get a good feel for the pay range.
Also, there are some sites that post up general salary statistics by location too. A bing search should help out.

Location plays a huge factor. Where are you based?

I agree about geography.
And it isn't just about the years of experience, but also the kind of experience and in what line of business.
You could have 10 years (well ok, not yet) writing ASP.Net pages but if the employer needs Windows Mobile development experience your odds go way down. Or you might have lots of banking background, which may not be useful to an employer in the medical field.
The pay level can vary by kind of business and type of ".Net development" as well as number of years. To some extent it will be driven by supply and demand.

Yeah, I agree! That is why after completing my Diploma of web development I decided to switch to software development to broaden my understanding of the different areas.

It has to be location! Ireland has some outrageously high paying jobs for that sort of experience with the average being 50k - 70k from searches I have seen, this could all be bravado though, IE not real postings or DOE which would mean its close to 50k all the time.

How do you guys handle the question about pay? All the on-line job seekers always ask what your salary requirements and what are you making now? How do you get around this, and get them to make an offer first?

I don't.. I tell them what I want and what I make. That way there is no waste of either of our time. If they don't want to come at least close to what I want and more then I make now there is no need to continue the conversation.

I agree with Gary you don't ! Some employers will specify a wage range others will not. If they don't then you need to tell them what you are looking for.
You need to decide what you think you should be earning at least partially based upon what you are earning now & what the market rate appears to be.
Are you working in .Net development at the moment ? if so why are you not using your current salary as a baseline.
If you are looking to earn more then you are currently because you feel undervalued then you are better of telling them the salary range you are looking for.

I was thinking that my past salary was none of their business; But, I can understand some of the opinions posted on this.
Anyways after reading a few articles today is seems that disclosing pay too soon in the process is not a good idea.
Here is what I was reading on this:

Bingo...there is no point in wasting their time or your time if there is a big gap between what you want and what they want to pay.
