Sorry to post again, but now I've got everything working. Please download the Beta Version 1.01 at our site. We've only been working on the game for a week, so we aren't very far yet. Please post comments/questions/suggestions here, or preferably on the messageboard on our site.
    Thanks. http://gsenterprise.bizland.com

1.) this is way too big for the game I'm getting.

2.) The other tank never refreshes after I kill it.

3.) The sounds option is whack. Use check boxes instead so you can have both options, not one or the other.

    4.) I didn't get any sounds anyway.

5.) you wrote this for 800x600, didn't you? I don't think it likes my 1152x864.

    6.) can't minimize? can't X it? what? no fair!

7.) after I win, it congratulates me, but never lets me restart.

    8.) escape key?

9.) I shoot, hit, and the bullet keeps a kickin' They usually explode on their target.

10.) It seems to start maximized. Is that what you want?

    11.) there's no music either.

    12.) dare I continue?

sorry to rip on you so much. Perhaps you should maybe work on your program a little more than a week before asking for beta testers.

    Hi,
Thanks for the comments. After I posted on this board, I thought to myself that I should have waited longer before the first release. One week isn't enough to make even a half decent game.
    The game has:
    lousy graphics
    lousy sounds
    lousy gameplay
    many errors
I'm going to wait until February until we release the 2nd version.
For anyone who was still thinking of trying the game, don't bother. It's just a waste of on-line time.
As for the yellow text, there's meant to be a background picture, but I guess it takes long to download.
    Thanks again.

Also, as for the sounds, we need to someone to develop a sound engine for us (not very good at that). This should be done preferably using DirectX. See the site for more info if you're interested.
    Thanks.

Alexander - if your looking for stuff on DirectX, there is a DirectX7a SDK on the microsoft site according to a BB member. Apparently there are some excellent tutorials of DirectX in VB DXF\samples\multimedia\vbsamples directory but it is a large download.

Might be worth your while. Alternatively, you might like to check this out - http://www.vb-world.net/ubb/Forum1/HTML/014432.html

    Good luck!

I have done a bit of snooping for you. DirectX Software Developers Toolkit can be found at http://www.microsoft.com/directx/dev...oads/dxsdk.asp

It's 128MB big!!! You might also like to check out http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/ba.../html/dxvb.htm It explains what you can do with it. Bascially, you can immprove the "lousy graphics, lousy sounds, lousy gameplay, many errors".

    Have fun and good luck!
