    The Poetry Thread

I've wanted to this for a while. I'm sure there are many poets here on vbf (besides code-poets of course). Share your work here. It'll give me an excuse to eat cheese and drink wine while surfiing the Internet...

Hmm, couldn't find a clip with where the guy says "This business is binary, you either a one or a zero, alive or dead." But I did find this trailer.

Thats a bit of a grandos claim there. You obviously haven't seen ghostbusters.

Nothing sucks the life out of you more than having to study war poetry.

Have you seen any of the extras on the DVD? Strange to hear actors talking about programmings in a non-geeky way.

    But, why? Simply why?

I love the "Confusing Love" poem, cos its how i feel about someone, and they blew away my feelings...

The suicide one, i wonder, there is a "tramp" living on the streets here in Donny, i see her almost daily, shes about 50ish,she aways says "change please" with manners everytime, and last time i saw her fighting to survive, she fought to keep her mcdonalds cup full of change. I often wonder why they fight to live, and the answer is, because it's what we're meant to do.

    T'was a cold night.
    Yet she was warm.
    And had a glow.
    That drowned my sorrow.

    And I thought to myself.
    We should make love.
    There's no need to rush.
    I'll divorce her tomorrow.

    Ninth and Hennepin
    Tom Waits

    Well it's Ninth and Hennepin
All the donuts have names that sound like prostitutes
And the moon's teeth marks are on the sky like a tarp thrown all over this
And the broken umbrellas are like dead birds
And the steam comes out of the grill like the whole goddamn town's ready to blow
And the bricks are all scarred with jailhouse tattoos
And everyone is behaving like dogs
And the horses are coming down Violin Road
And Dutch is dead on his feet
And all the rooms they smell like diesel
And you take on the dreams of the ones who have slept there
And I'm lost in the window, and I hide in the stairway
And I hang in the curtain, and I sleep in your hat
And no one brings anything small into a bar around here
They all started out with bad directions
And the girl behind the counter has a tattooed tear
"One for every year he's away", she said
    Such a crumbling beauty
Aw, there's nothing wrong with her that a hundred dollars won't fix
She has that razor sadness that only gets worse
With the clang and the thunder of the Southern Pacific going by
And the clock ticks out like a dripping faucet
'Til you're full of rag water, bitters and blue ruin
And you spill out over the side to anyone who will listen
    I've seen it all
I've seen it all through the yellow windows of the evening train
