    Neural Network in VB6?

I am trying to create a single layer, feed-forward neural net in VB6 to do pattern learning & recognition for a handwriting recognition tool, also in VB6.

The network includes 25 input neurons, 5 hidden neurons, and 5 output neurons. that makes a total of 150 variables for connection weights. would it be best to create: B) one array with all the weights in it, B) 5 arrays, one for each row of input neurons, C) an independant variable for each connection, or D) switch over to VB.net and build an object for each neuron?

I think you talk about a 3 layer network. It is not necessary to use VB.NET to create objects. You can use classes in vb6 and create instances of it. I think however if speed is important to use arrays.

Here are some examples of neural nets in VB6: http://www.pscode.com/vb/scripts/Sho...36178&lngWId=1

And here is a neural net for an optical character recognition program:

    Re: Neural Network in VB6?

    thanks for the resources.

Just a little background on how exactly i'm using the network, if that helps. a letter or number is viewed on a 5 by 5 matrix of small squares. if part of the letter falls on a particular box, the box gains the value of 1. this data is trained using the back propagation algorithm, and the train data is sotred in a database as a data set. when the network is being used, it compares the input to the training sets and makes an output accordingly. If this turns out to be a success, i want to try it on a much larger scale with photos and facial recognition and the likes.
