people with big hdtv's are only trying to compensate for smaller things in their lives... thinking getting a "60-inch anything" is doing good

Depends on where you live in the world. In Norway we start with full digital TV in 2007-2008, but then again, there is lots of channels in the world that will still not support it, so...go figgure...

In Canada, I hear it will be full HDTV in about 4-5 years.

hum hdtv, you know I still can manage to see the "pixels" on those things, I cant see paying $4000 dollars for something that hasnt yet reached technological perfection...

I got a 50" DLP HDTV, and I love it...
The TV comes with a 10 Months box from Rogers with 40 HTDV channels, and about 300 regular channels. And of course, If I pay, I can get more channels on HDTV, about 100 channels I think...
HDTV is better than DVD, you can see the diference pretty fast.
HDTV in unbelivebly clear.
Of course when you are very close to the TV you can see the pixels, that will always be there... it will be a looooonnnnggg way until you won't be able to see the pixels... that is on a plasma TV...
On DLP you don't see any dots, all the pixels are connected to each other, there is no black lines in between the pixels, so if you stay close to the TV it is difficult to see the pixels.
HDTV does not even compare with regular channels, quality is far better.

Well, I don't think it was a waist of money.
And yes, I also do think that TV is a way of "brain washing" the viewer

But then again, Arrow_Raider, did not ask you what you think about the content on TV

And also, you DO have a choice to change the clannel to a better channel (if there are any), or turn the TV off....
