    I think the main reason would be as a method of redigestion, I guess that eating your own excrement is a way of garunteeing you catch all the good bits your body missed the first time round.

    Not only dogs, but some beetles and rabbits too. There's a real good word for that too, "coprophagous". Isn't it a great word, children?
