I refuse to trust any pronunciation from a race of peoples who used to pronounce "reed" as "raid." Take a guess who I am referring to wossname =)

That's Birmingham you dumb ass. We pronounce reed as reed.

I could quite easily hurl you off Team Sandpaper for that racial slur against me.

Where are you from anyway. You're probably a Cockney. I hate Cockneys

No it's not - it's two words stuck together: 'Yr Wyddfa' - which is the Welsh name for Snowdon.

I don't mean rugby with kevlar armour that stops every 10 seconds, either.

    wy
There are actually two versions of this diphthong: a rising version (stress on the "y"; the "w" is consonantal) and a falling one (stress on the "w"; the "y" is consonantal). Examples: "gw+ydd" (goose) is pronounced GOOH-eethe (falling); "gwy+dd" (trees) is pronounced GWEETHE (rising).
    dd
Like "th" in English "the", never as in "think". Example: "gwy+dd".

    It's actually two words.

    Yr Wyddfa:

    Yr -> pronounced as urrrr

Wy -> Oi (as in OI! Nutter!)

dd -> pronounced like th in 'the' not as in 'think'

fa -> pronounced as though its 'var'

so it's sort of like saying:
    urr - Oi-th-var

    Re: yrwyddfa

To all those English persons who still believe England were better than Wales (regardless of our grand slam ), apparently Healey has demanded Robinson resign as head coach with Martin Johnson to replace him......and I would have to agree. Robinson is the worst thing that's happened to England but Johnson could bring them into 2005 where the game is faster and frankly more southern-hemisphere

Being that I'm not Welsh I was pretty close, I guess. I can only just get my tongue around Betwys Y Coed: pronounced "betoos i coid"?
