    intranet and VB6

    hello!
    got a question for you.

is it possible to do a program in VB6 and then put a link to it on the intranet so the people on the company can work with it?

if this is possible, do they need to have VB installed on their PC's?

what do i need to do to be able to do this?

No, they dont need VB but they need VB runtime files:

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...vbrun60sp5.exe

And the PC trying to create links has to have write privilages on the folder that it is trying to create the links in.

    then it's possible?
i can create create the program on my PC, put it on the server, then create an intranet page linking to the vb .EXE and it will work.
the only thing people will need is the VBruntime. is that it?
they won't need anything else like MDAC and things like that?

MDAC_TYP.EXE needs to be installed if you are dealing with databases.

i've tested this in my computer with a program that i've already done but it takes such a long time to load the VB6 program that it gives an error.

    "CGI TIMEOUT
The specified CGI applicationexceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process."

is it normal? is there anything that can be done about this?
My PC even has VB6 installed so it's not because of that.
i placed the program on the server next to the page and then i just did a link to the EXE of the program.

can you tell me why it doesn't work?
