Add a resource file to your project and then add the file to the
resource file. When its compiled its gets added to the exe. Then
extract it when you need it in your program.

No confusion here.
Do a search for LoadResPicture and add the resource editor add-
in to your vb ide. Add-Ins > Add-Ins Manager > Select "VB 6.0
Resource Editor". Check Loaded/Unloaded and Load at startup. Click Ok.

I believe you can add it in through the vbaddin.ini file
located in the Winnt dir next to the vb.ini file. This is what I have in mine.
Code:
[Add-Ins32]
MTxAddIn2.RegRefresh=3
VisioUMLSolution.UMLVB=0
vbscc=3
RVBAddInMenus.Connector=0
RVBAddIn.Connector=0
DTCFrameWork.AddIn=0
Maybe this will help.

Then it must be stored somewhere else. I will search when I
get some more time. Maybe in registry or vb app dir.

But if you dont have it added in yet, it probably wont be on your
system or registry.

I recently had an issue where I lost my References menu
item. I had no way to add any references to any projects. So I
had to un-install and re-install vs. Sounds like maybe a last
option for you?

True, but that is why I described in detail how to add it in and only
suggested reinstalling as a last option.
