    whats this line do [simple]

    d$ is a string.

What does this do to D1$ and D2$ ?

    Code:
    D1$ = D$: D2$ = D$:
I'd assume this assigns D$ to D1$ and D2$... but this program re-assigns them in the following commands. any help?

    D1$ = D$: D2$ = D$:

    basically means this:

    D1$ = D$
    D2$ = D$

the ':' is a line separator.

    because...

if the variables are related, I don't see the problem.
    maybe D1$=D$ : D2$=D1$ would be better?
