    Possibly a DirectX related question

    Start > Run > dxdiag.

Wait for it to collect all the info, then click on the Sound tab.

You'll see a "Hardware Sound Acceleration Level" slider there. Is it possible to modify this setting, preferably through a DOS Command, or even VB6/VB.NET/C/C++?

I can change it on that screen....

Also, Control Panel->Sounds and audio devices

In the 'Speaker settings' frame click 'advanced', then click on the 'performance' tab, and your option to change your sound acceleration is there.

He asked for a programming way.......well I don't think anyone can help you here...it doesn't say anything about it in the docs...so hmmm...might be a small chance for it to be possible still tho, but I doubt it. You might want to try to ask on the official DX mailing list...

Well I don't have the link here....will try to look for it....

in the mean time...you can try the community, but there is no MS DX developers there as far as I know....just MVPs, but it is at least worth a shot....I will post the link to the mailing list later today. When I get home. Am at school now, and have to work afterwards...

here you go...try one of theses first:
