Ownership Of Code etc.
MartinLiss and I have checked this with the admins, and they never intended to take ownership of the code.
That clause just happened to appear in the AUP.
They have never had this issue before at CodeGuru, so that's why they did not forsee any problems.
They agree that for them to take ownership of your code is not right.
The AUP is being changed to non-exclusive, which means that you retain the rights to use your code however you wish.
The AUP page should be updated within a day or two.

I shouldn't get the credit on this.
Martin's actually the one who raised the issue with the admins.
I just added my two cents on the matter, and created this thread.

Yes, they've changed the AUP. You now have to pay if you want them to use your code without asking..

By copyright laws state that whoever submits their work to a company or interprise is protected by the submitter. If a company takes claim to a individual's work there is huge lawsuit from $250 to $5,000,000! If the submitter gives permission to user the individual's work than that company must take credit to the submitter.

lol
Just sitting back and giggling at people now getting angry that their code *hasn't* been nicked.
BTW, can I check whether an official announcement has been made RE the changes at the Network? There were releases on Yahoo! Finance and so on (see www.whitecliff.net) but I'm unsure as to whether everyone has been properly told.
I'm a little concerned as to how this how thing has been approached.

There was a big stink about the new owners having exclusive license over any code posted here from the beginning to the end of time. It's been changed though, so everything is honkey-dory.

I'm sorry if communication has been a little poor these past few days. I have had to sit quietly in the background whilst internet.com make the official announcement, however I want you all to know I'm alive and kicking.
Ya can't get rid of me that easily, y'know.

Well, even though the AUP has changed, now that I looked at the Legal Notices, as quoted in my signature, isn't there a confict between the two?

Thats ok.
I was concerned about the legal notices, where it says:
YOU MAY NOT MODIFY, COPY, REPRODUCE, REPUBLISH, UPLOAD, POST, TRANSMIT, OR DISTRIBUTE, IN ANY MANNER, THE MATERIAL ON THE SITE, INCLUDING TEXT, GRAPHICS, CODE AND/OR SOFTWARE
But, as I've been informed, it must pertain to the actual physical code of the website itself, along with its textual and graphical design.
So, thanks!
