Well, first of all your trying to connect to Outlook Express and your code is written for Outlook (Outlook.Application). OE does not expose any
valid COM objects. There are a few exposed but it was a mistake and thats why they always error when you try using OE.
You could import (I think) your OE ontacts to Outlook and then you should get a response.
Search by my username and Outlook and you will find tons of examples that I have written.

Oh I thought it was accessing Outlook Express. Ok. Now that I know that, I gave Outlook 2000 a try. Well theres just one problem. My email address is from hotmail. And on Outlook, it doesn't give you a choice to use HTML as a server. Just POP3 and IMAP for the Incoming Mail server and SMTP for the Outcoming Mail server. So I couldn't successfully run the settings from Outlook Express on Outlook 2000. Any pointers on how to get it going so I can start using some VB in here?
I just connected to my work's terminal server which is running Outlook 2000 and this should be the form where you need
to populate your mail account properties with the hotmail settings.
You probably need to do the Office Update (like dg suggested) if you haven't done one before. i think SP-3 is the latest for Outlook 2000. It will add the
security prompt when you access the Address entries objects though .

Yeah Outlook 2000 is pretty old. Ok other than importing settings, which didn't work because the server I need is HTML based, here's what happens on Outlook 2000. Ok when you add a new account, it says to type in the name you want to appear for the outgoing message. Then after you have that, you type in your email address that people can reply to. These two things are the same in Outlook Express as well. Now here comes the server part. On Outlook 2000, it says "My incoming mail server is a..." and you have a choice of either POP3 or IMAP, and you type in whatever server that is. Then it says "Outgoing mail (SMTP) server" and you type in the server name in there.
Now on Outlook Express, it's different. It now gives you 3 choices for a server. HTTP/POP3/IMAP. And you get a third option in the middle: "My HTTP mail service provider is (Hotmail/Other). Here's the HTTP server address I got:
I know that I can't send email from my hotmail account, but I get it delivered into Office, as JR is doing for OE. It's an automatic setting in OE, but you have to import it to get it to work with O2K, according to the article.
The one time an update requred a CD, it didn't work, so I had to download the full install to get it to work anyways.
I have never had a update fail to install, requiring the CD or not. If you do not have an official copy of Office it may fail because of
that or a bad CD too.

Yes I have the CD. I had to update it with something else in order to update it with SP3. And so far I got it imported except it keeps telling me that the server is in offline mode. What gives?
Actually it's a WAB file or a CSV file. And there's one problem. The address book on Outlook 2000 won't let me import or export in the contacts list. The menu items are disabled for some reason. That's what's keeping me from putting in my address list.
It's online. Cause otherwise it wouldnt be autodownloading new messages, or anything like that. I went to Tools > Addressbook... and it was in that. Both Import/Export is enabled in Outlook Express but disabled in Outlook 2000.
Ah, what about during your initial installation of Outlook. Did you install all options? I think its the Importers and filters, or something like that?

That could be a problem. If your addressbook is online at hotmail.com, then it is n't in OE at all, so you won't be able to import it into Outlook!
Maybe it would be easier to xfer the ones that you have in msn?
You can import them into Hotmail.com, but you can't export them.
I guess you'll have to either send an email to everyone on your contact list, and copy it to yourself, and then add each one manually, or just enter everyone manually.
Once it's anywhere else, you can import it to everywhere else.
Looks like you've found the flaw in Hotmail.com online!
