    Do a search for TLBINF32.DLL
  3. Re: How to get the coordinates of the 4 corners of a coaxial rectangle on the circle

OK, this can be achieved with another auxiliary function:

    Private Type RECT
    Left As Long
    Top As Long
    Right As Long
    Bottom As Long
    End Type
  4. Re: How to get the coordinates of the 4 corners of a coaxial rectangle on the circle

    Private Type POINTAPI
    X As Long
    Y As Long
    End Type

Private Function RotatePoints(nSource() As POINTAPI, ByVal nAngleDegrees As Single) As POINTAPI()
    Dim iCenter As POINTAPI
    ...
  5. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

As I said before, it is one of the reasons but not the only one.
I'm totally sure that the message appeared after installing Word and got way uninstalling it (at the time I still didn't have the...
  6. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

Because I don't need it may be?

    Because I don't use it.

I must admit, I unchecked some items quite randomly and since it installed fine, I have written down the selection.

    I think I just...
  7. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

I unchecked just that and it works fine.
Repository? I don't remember what that was for.

I used to have the issue for a long time (as many do).
Now I think that they must be two different...
  8. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

I don't remember if it was Office 2007 or what version.
I currently have also version 2003 and in my recent testing (see post #23) did not experience the problem either.

    Also, I think it started...
  9. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

Yes, they might be two very similar but different problems.

Just tested, I renamed the DLL to the original name and opened VB6 like 20 times and didn't get the message now (I have another Windows...
  10. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

I don't have "a screwed up installation" and I don't believe many of the folks that had the problem here had such, either.

Better say that you don't have an old Office version installed (and you...
  11. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

But then how it fixes the problem (if it has nothing to do)?
  12. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

The problem doesn't always show up.
Usually it start to appear after installing an old Office version (or some other app).
Even in that situation, the message usually doesn't always appear, it...
  13. Re: Rounding a 4 decimal place number to 2 decimal places

The correct rounding is 14.55, that's the issue.
Because 0.0048 is less than half of 0.01.

That's because it first rounds to 14.555 and 0.005 being in the middle is then rounded up in the...
  14. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

Strange, that's has been the solution for several installations that I've made after the discovery, and had worked also for others so far.
(Ensure that you did it right)

    I think this add-in...
  15. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

Did you do what I said in post #6?
  16. Re: How do I get rid of Msgbox when opening Microsoft Visual Basic 6 ???

    The solution is:

Navigate to the VB6 installation folder, usually
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio\VB98

    and rename or delete DATAVIEW.DLL

    Re: [RESOLVED] Select Case True

It is valid, very useful and readable.

You can do a select case with any constant, anyway I personally have only used True.

    Private Sub Command1_Click()
    Dim a As Long
    Dim b As Long...
  18. Re: VB6 QUESTION: Non-Modal message box in its own thread

I think that without giving the full path, it could fail when the CurDir is set to somewhere else (I don't have time now to test it).
Also, mine was a simplified example, you also need to take into...
  19. Re: [RESOLVED] Why can't Enum of VB6 be a string?

I agree with SH, the only thing that makes JS "popular" is the monopoly, I mean, it is the only language that browsers can execute. Period.
  20. Re: VB6 QUESTION: Non-Modal message box in its own thread

You could do it with the same exe:

    In bas a module

    Public Sub Main()
    If Command$ = "/Msg" Then
MsgBox "The program has been closed", vbInformation
    Else
    Form1.Show
    ...
  21. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

Another possibility is to redraw the whole graphic (background) of the PB to erase the indication, for current computers that will probably be fast enough.
  22. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

Yes, there are two hDC when objects have AutoRedraw, may be he could take advantage of that trick (or feature).

    Good idea :thumb:.
  23. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

    But if:
    1) the text added is hided before the scroll, it won't be a problem.
    2) the text added scrolls also with the background, it won't be a problem either, but in that case you'll have to update...
  24. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

It would be better and more straightforward if the PictureBox (and the GDI API that it uses -the hDC-) had the possibility to have "layers", but it doesn't work like that.

    So, the labels approach...
  25. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

You can set the label's property BackStyle to transparent.
But a single label control will have only one format (color, bold, etc.).
But you could put more than one label control.
  26. Re: Displaying dynamic text with color changes in a PictureBox

If you want to put some formatted text over the PictureBox with an opaque background you could place a RichTextBox.

If you want it to have a transparent background instead, it will take more work.

Re: Projects on any size & resolution screens

About VB6: it was ahead if its time, supporting programming independent of DPI (by using twips) when it was still not needed in practice.

The most weird thing is that it was abandoned in .NET just...

Re: Projects on any size & resolution screens

At first sight, if one considers that it is an OLE problem, it would seem that any VB6 successor would inherit this issue.

But I really don't get in what sense this could be an OLE problem, this...

Why do you think that is an OLE problem, and not just VB6?

Re: Show Hourglass - or Wait Cursor

That if the user changes to another program (for example with Alt+Tab) the MousePointer is not what you have set.
What you have set with Screen.MousePointer only applies to your program.

Re: Show Hourglass - or Wait Cursor

Screen.MousePointer is not applied to Windows but just to your program, what is usually what the programmer wants since VB6 is single threaded (and cannot do anything with any form while it is busy).

Re: Introducing MixLangz a Visual IDE
