  1. Re: [RESOLVED] Weird issue with controls position at high DPI

Just curious: Have you picked a horse to put your money on yet?

I've looked at many alternatives over the last few years but nothing seems to come close. For all of its warts .Net probably has...
  2. Re: Weird issue with controls position at high DPI

    It's probably a Win32 limitation, such as a range from -16384 to 16383 pixels.

If you look up WM_MOVE you will see that only 16 bits are used for X and Y positions. That should allow twice as...
  3. Re: How to Delete a DataGrid1 Row Without Deleting All the Rows After? VB6

Here I have entered Row 1, Row 2, Row 3, and Row 4. Then I deleted Row 2. Finally I added New Row:

    178299

In this case I have also formatted the "Price" column in the DataGrid, as well as...
  4. Re: How do I make VB6 NOT automatically register ActiveX DLL that it compiles?

AppID contains DCOM entries for a compiled program unit. Normally these are only for an ActiveX EXE but might be included for a DLL to be invoked remotely, via RunDLL.exe, or from a 64-bit process....
  5. Re: How to Delete a DataGrid1 Row Without Deleting All the Rows After? VB6

Trying to fight with the DataGrid in code isn't the best option. It already supports row-deletion:

    Re: Alpha blending on printing

    Re: Alpha blending on printing

I suspect the limitation there is that if you want to use the printer at high resolution (600 DPI or better) you may crash into a limit on the PictureBox hDC dimensions.

    Of course you might render...

    Re: Alpha blending on printing

It all depends on what the printer driver supports.

Use GetDeviceCaps(Printer.hDC, SHADEBLENDCAPS) and look at the flag bits returned.
  10. Re: DwmGetColorizationColor - Close, but no cigar

Yeah, those should be RGBQUAD not COLORREF as I named them. That was an error.

Fishing "AccentColor" out of the registry seems to work though. The only challenge left is choosing the ForeColor...
  11. Re: DwmGetColorizationColor - Close, but no cigar

Well, I hate reaching directly into the registry but we don't seem to have any documented direct calls to get the right BackColor:

'Here I want to try to color Label1 as...
  12. Re: DwmGetColorizationColor - Close, but no cigar

Even though imperfect, this might be good enough for my intended uses.

Of course the user might have made some other choice that makes this approach fall apart, for example a really bad choice of...

I'm trying to find the active title bar colors under the last supported version of Windows. I want to ape them in controls, e.g. Label.

  16. Re: How do I compile without linking in VB6?

C2.exe is not "the compiler." It is pass 2, the code generator. Pass 1 is VB6.EXE itself.

If here is some hack to prevent VB6.EXE from running LINK.EXE after a successful run of C2.EXE I've...

  33. Re: Why is there SetWindowLongA and SetWindowLongW in Windows API?
