    Re: DPI Awareness per Window

Good luck. It is very challenging to do this correctly, even File Explorer still has flaws.
  2. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Well I'm not the one who keeps raising insane politically-motivated points. I just push back on the crazies, stuffing them back into the sewers.

  4. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Er, no. Trump's vaccine push (Operation Warp Speed) had not produced a tested product ready to be administered until the Biden Coup occurred. The embarrassingly weak acceptance levels however...

    Re: DPI Awareness per Window

It is really only an issue for Per-Monitor DPI settings. There are two levels: PMv1 and PMv2 and they are handled differently.

    Re: printscreen

Ok. Sometimes it is best to let people stumble and discover things. It isn't easy to be told "throw it away and start over."

So you want to use PSet calls to copy some printed text from one...

    Re: printscreen

If you need to create graphics programs that go beyond the simple tools native to VB6 perhaps you'd be way ahead to find a 3rd party drawing library compatible with VB6?

Doing a ton of raw GDI,...

  9. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

I look there for a good belly laugh sometimes, but it is pretty rare for me to post there. Then again the VB6 forum also gives some pretty good laughs these days.

Re: Copy Control(s) to another form

Select the container control itself. Then copy/cut it, select the destination Form or container, paste. All done.

    Re: printscreen

Whenever possible avoid trashing the user's clipboard. The clipboard belongs to the user, not your program!

You are also jumping through unneeded hoops. It sounds like you have even more hoops...
  12. Re: Why is VB.Net/C#/XAML + VS2019 is better than VB6? Here's why.....

I think it has something to do with deep-rooted insecurities.
  13. Re: Weird characters when running vba codes

This is either an upside-down or inside-out view of the world (or both).

VB6 source code is ANSI, but only the ASCII subset is safe. This should be obvious, because ANSI encoding is always...

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

Egad, shopping web sites selling PC hardware are a mess. All that crazy humpty-jumpty crap that makes this site look sane.

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

I think if Microsoft can make WSA work it will have far more impact than warranted by the time and energy spent on WSL, which nobody (less than 0.01% of users) wants or needs. Will they pull it off?...
  16. Re: I want when I click inside the combo a message appears to the user?

Oh yeah, we always have ToolTipText too.
  17. Re: I want when I click inside the combo a message appears to the user?

ComboBox already supports CueBanners when the process selects the version 6 Common Controls assembly. You have to call SendMessage() since the VB6 wrapper control lacks a property for CueBanner...
  18. Re: VB6 QUESTION: Do you ever find yourself creating pseudo forms?

I'm not sure what they buys you considering its cost. Just use MsgBox, it's only there temporarily after all.
  19. Re: Getting the ball rolling. Which VB6 projects are you working on?

The irony here is that the old "chicken and egg problem" always had an answer. The egg came first. That's how mutation and evolution works.
  20. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Don't worry. As soon as it becomes "correct" to say vaccination didn't help enough the usual trolls will emerge, agree, and blame Trump. We are close to that day.

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

I have no issue with the security hardware. I just don't want to replace old machines and I don't care for things like the x64 requirement which means more replacing of old machines.

    Everything I...
  22. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

We grow a lot of potatoes here. Mostly the Russet, smaller round white, smaller red, and those yellow-fleshed firmer ones. Probably more than half are the round whites and most of those get used as...
  23. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Yeah, it sounds like there is a "Delta Plus" variant ramping up now. So far I haven't heard that it is more dangerous, but it seems to be more transmissible.

Re: Windows 11 is available to some now

I think we have been here before.

The biggest problem that both Windows Me and 2000 had was that so many people had PCs without adequate hardware and proper drivers. Eventually when XP came out...

Come on, even the most die-hard pro-Microsoft pundits agree it is only about trying to sell new PCs. Period.
  28. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Maybe they used turnips. That was a commonly used crop before potatoes.

Potatoes nearly replaced them though, they just have more nutritional value in terms of calories.
  29. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

I won't claim to have any of it figured out.

Supposedly in the UK they have high rates of vaccination and hygiene compliance and loads of testing and tracking and forehead hologram tags picked up...

  31. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

All I can think of are things like employer and airline requirements. Aside from that maybe echo-chamber paranoia about door-to-door checks?
  32. Re: VB6 QUESTION: Quickest way to initialise an array

It usually isn't an issue for most arrays. If you do have some large tables you need for something you can always compile them in as binary data resources and use CopyMemory to copy the resource...
  33. Re: [RESOLVED] Corona virus, China major city lockdowns, etc.

Re: VB Snippet - Determine if Array is Empty

Yeah, it depends on what you mean by "empty."
